Flying clubs out of the country.

Going to the Dominican Republic in April. Debating whether or not to fly my clubs down or rent when I get there. I would really prefer to play with my own set but don’t want to deal with any nonsense either. I have a whole set of brand new Sim2s and don’t want them stolen or anything. Is it problematic or what?

If everything you have is standard length and lie, renting clubs isn’t a problem.
Ship sticks is a good company and has guarantees if you really want to play your own clubs.

Traveled with mine to DR in November, zero issues.
Have a Club Glove travel bag and a stiff arm. I always remove the heads from my woods and wrap them in a towel.

I suggest calling ahead to find out what clubs are rented...probably new and nice. If you rent, l suggest taking your own shoes, balls, gloves and trees, as renting/buying will be quite pricey.

Ship sticks is great, but they get expensive real quick when going international. I took my clubs with me to the Bahamas and had no problems. Get a nice travel bag and stiff arm and you will be fine. I have read conflicting opinions on whether or not removing all detachable heads is necessary, but I do it every time I fly.

I take my clubs on almost every trip, domestic and abroad. I've never had an issue with checking them. I use a soft travel bag, and I pad around the heads with a sweatshirt and golf towels.

I have a travel golf bag, I have a pole that in the top that kind of puts a mini umbrella over the clubs, I usually wrap them in a few towels. If I’m only playing one round I’ll probably rent. If I’m playing multiple rounds I definitely bring my clubs

I’ve flown with clubs to china/Far East and South America, never had an issue. Flew united and Delta, checked bag as normal. If you’re flying a reputable airline I wouldn’t worry about it. If you have a soft bag get one of those rods keep the bag from bending. One of these
That’s the only concern I have when traveling with my soft coffin case.

I've taken my clubs to Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, and the UK. I've never had a problem.
