Will be in Destin this weekend and next week. What are the best courses available to the public in the area?

Kelly, Regatta Bay, Raven…. All of those are pretty close. $180-$200 to play them last week.

There’s Baytowne and a few others around that are cheaper. We played Rocky Bayou CC up in the Niceville area about 20 min north as well. At the recommendation of several folks on the property we were at. Nice course, it’s about $70-$100 depending. It hosted the US Open qualifier this year. It’s no where near the same amenities as say Kelly or Regatta. But the course was challenging with some elevation changes and the greens were great.

Played The Club at Hidden Creek a couple of weeks ago. Pretty nice course, not difficult unless you end up in the huge bunkers. Runs about $80 with cart.

Destin golf has lost its mind with pricing. I went twice this summer and prices were high like this. Tee sheets were not full, not even close.

If you’re up for a 45 minute drive go to Windswept Dunes in Freeport.

I’ll gladly pay more to not deal with riff raft on the course.

I get it, but damn! How are these courses going to stay open if no one is playing? Is membership that strong?

Played Indian Bayou last week and enjoyed it. Wanted to play Kelly but someone I knew had played the day before and said they had just punched.

I’ve played Kelly, Raven, Baytowne, Indian Bayou and Windswept Dunes.

Windswept Dunes is the best layout in my opinion and the best value. It is not a resort course so the clubhouse is just a small pro shop and grill, but the course is what I go for. Depending on the tees you play, it can be as much of a challenge as you want!

Could be. I know the courses in my area have increased their prices 30% over the last couple of years. Maybe they’d rather people that want to keep playing pay the membership, or just overall jumping on the inflation train.

I have noticed tho that weekend rounds have gone back to 4 hours vs 5 so not complaining.

Windswept is the best money value that's my go to when I go to Destin. Use to play there and no one was on the course years ago. Now with the golf prices in Destin the last time there last May the course was booked.

I don’t think we are that far off from seeing ubiquitous $200 green fees as the norm and not the exception.

Windswept Dunes
Played it twice about a month ago Labor Day weekend. Both days we were the only ones there. Worth the drive, great layout, and the course was in phenomenal shape.

Played Raven yesterday. Greens are fuzzy but everything else was plush.
