I can't stand walking across a fairway only to not have the right club, so I started unhooking my bag from the cart and carrying my bag to my ball. A playing buddy of mine was giving me shite for doing this, saying it takes too long.

What say you?

I feel like courses should charge a lower cart fee on CPO days.

OP, why not just walk the whole round?

Totally fine. Sometimes I'll take my bag off and walk the rest of the hole.

Why not shoot the distance from the cart, estimate the distance from where the ball is, and grab your towel/2 or 3 clubs, and leave the bag strapped to the cart?

That's what I do. Take the club I think I'll use plus one less and one more. But on CPO days I usually hit to the paths...

Just hit it close to the path every time. Problem solved

I'll just walk if it's cart path only. I prefer to walk anyways so this gives me an excuse without feeling like I'm slowing others down.

Another reason Money Hill is the GOAT, no cart paths to worry about.

do you understand, or know it will be COP before you arrive at the course? If yes, then that is on you not the golf course!

Would a lower cart fee really get you out to the course more if the course is wet?

Many times no

I'm not blaming them, I just think that I am paying for a convenience. CPO is much less convenient so less value should be placed on it.

Would it be more convenient to walk instead of ride? No. That’s why you pay. You’re still using the cart, draining the batteries/burning gas, and you’re still getting a round of golf in without carrying your bag.

Only an idiot would bring his whole bag. Shoot it from the cart and bring the 2 clubs that are in range with you.

I’m OK with taking the bag when in doubt. If the ball can be seen and there does not appear to be any potential danger in the way, then grabbing about three clubs should be sufficient. However, if the player is not that skilled or there are obstacles in the way, then take the whole bag to avoid having to make another trip if the ball hits a tree or something that may require another club. In other words, save a trip back to the cart if you are not sure your shot will get you close enough for your next stop to be parked near the green.

Get down with the Pythagorean theorem cuz.
Measure from cart to hole, then cart to ball...

Can we discuss why both the driver and the rider have to pay a FULL cart fee each for the use of one cart? I think that courses should allow the cart fee to be split amongst the two people using it. It would encourage people to join up and ride together, speeding up the round, and making it about $7 cheaper each time.

BREC used to do something similar way back and people would bitch when playing as a single or as the 3rd or 5th guy because they had to pay double.

I get what you're saying but I think it is priced that way for the above reason.
