Why does under 40 receive the lower rate?

To get new blood. Every CC does it for the most part

$445.68 with tax and not charging a dime to your account. My kid can run up an extra $300 by herself in the summer with chicken tenders and candy.

Really? That’s surprising to hear.
I’ve only played Beau chene a couple times in tournaments but it was always in good shape.

i believe their approach is twofold
1 - invite you in at a lower rate
2 - in these communities, old folk are rich as shite

when 2 of my kids started LSU and 1 at SLU, I had to take a deep breath.....if you join their MGA and play in any tournaments, or the summer men's twilight league, it was not uncommon to have a 1200-1500\mo bill, and for some, this is probably on the lower end. i had to be 'aware' of my spending (not an OT baller).
if you get a cart, $25\round. this adds up quicker than you think.
anything you get off the cart or inside, you can pay cash. if you charge it, 18% on top of it.

The course and just general management of the course right now is very disappointing

I played it last Summer and again this Fall. Food was good, service was meh, practice area was nice, but man the course has so much potential but was really unkept. Just little things that could be done with minimal spend or effort would have made the experience much better.

For the dues the courses are in good shape. Could they be better? Of course. But then the dues wouldn’t be what they are. It’s 36 holes you are getting with those dues. That’s what is so awesome

i live on oak #7.
the last 1-2 years, under a new groundskeeper, they have improved the tee boxes and they are starting an irrigation project that we delayed due to ida.
my biggest complaint about it is there are several fairways that just don't have good lies. i'm talking middle of the fairway. some of it is due to certain holes having a huge amount of oak tress, so there's no direct sun ever hitting it, and some issues are the exact oppsoite........no irrigation and we get these droughts so the grass get burnt. IMO, for the money, yes its nice having 2 courses and driving range, but to hit a drive down the middle and be laying on hard pan sucks when playing in tournaments.

I can’t think of anytime i have been hardpan on the actual fairway except for #7 oak. But you have to be a baw to hit it down there past those oaks But even in the tourneys I have played there they always have a one club rule both in the fairway and even the bunkers they allow to to lift and rake and place.
Bunkers often suck, but I expect that for what we pay
If they upped entry to 20k and dues to $600 a month they could have great courses. But I would be out for sure

MGA and club events when played up is one scorecard not one club. Bunker conditions are sometimes rake and place, sometimes just place and sometimes it's played down.
Outside tournaments have different rules of course but that doesnt have anything to do with membership.
I won't even talk about Mag which was a shite show all summer but there is more than just 7 Oak with hard pan issues.
3, 10 and 18 are all also hardpan dead in the middle of the fairway
It isn't just now. It wasn't just this summer. Its all the time.
Right now, the fairways are all aerated, the tee box positions are set by whoever cuts the grass and he just puts them to where he isn't cutting so they're either all up front or all in the back, they walls of the bunkers have all the sand and when it rains, they just collapse, the drainage is horrible, the range closes with the threat of rain (not just after it rains) and don't even get me started about the kids on 6 who use the fairway as a football field, the people on 6 who use the fairway as their fireworks launch pad and the residents who use the paths as a jogging track, dog walking path or bike route.
Course being described as questionable right now is generous.

Maybe I just have very low standards, but for $290 a month I feel like I’m absolutely raping them for the two courses I get
It’s $70 these days to play one single round at courses in worse condition. $290 a month for two courses and full club membership feels like the course is where it should be from a value standpoint

I don't know if the birdie membership is a fair comparison thought since it's not something everyone has access to.
$2,400 a year between the medalist and birdie memberships is significant IMO
Just split the difference...would your opinion be the same if you paid $390/month or would your perception about value be changed a bit?
