Gotta take some traffic off the other courses, give people some other options without having to drive 40 minutes. I played Santa Maria yesterday at noon, granted the weather was perfect but I've never seen so many people on a golf course on a Thursday.

Or fix up Webb to make it a reasonable option. It’s already in a great location

which will happen first?

a) a public golf course or two in BR
b) a traffic loop around BR
c) a second bridge over the miss river
d) none of the above in your lifetime

Purchasing Sherwood seems to be one of the only options, and I'm not even sure that could be considered a viable option.

It isn't like there is a ton of undeveloped land in town that would be fitting for a golf course.

Have you seen the place? No way it could be revitalized...

Played Webb today and finished in 3 hours. The greens need some grass on them but otherwise it’s in good shape and a nice little track

Webb has a good layout. If they’d close a course and pump money into Webb it would help. Maybe Dumas? Don’t know.

I actually putted pretty well considering how insanely fast the greens were.

I lived at Fairway View for a little while back in college. I used to play Webb all the time. I’ve never played it in less than 5.

Did they even build on the front 9? I loved playing that course.

The key to all this is Howell being closed.

With Howell closed, the traffic at Webb & City Park have increased, and it’s trickled to Beaver & SM as a result.

One option would be to completely redo Dumas and make it another BC. That’s the only way to get people to make that trip out to Baker. And they would if a quality course was there. And I always thought Dumas could be nice with the right plan.

If people were happy with Howell then they have no problem playing Clark or Dumas as is.

We do not need new golf courses just because SM is busy. SM needs a system of Marshals or GPS that helps them push golfers to a sub 4.5 hour round.

SM also needs to raise prices which will push golfers to other courses or slower days/times. It will also increase their bottom line which can be used to improve all courses.

This is the correct answer. Dumas loses a lot of money.

I love having about 30 courses within 40 mins from me here in Greensboro.

Then I have about another 100 and hour and half away in Pinehurst.

I get bored of some courses.

By my count, we have 18. 3 are private.

Copper
Beaver
Bluffs
Greystone
Carter
BRCC
CCL
Uclub
Webb
Lsu
City Park
Dumas
Clark
The Island
Denham Springs Country Club
Santa Maria
Pelican Point
Fennwood

This doesn't count Laplace or Hammond, which could be within 40 minutes, depending on where you are leaving from.

So while not nearly as many as Greensboro, that isn't my issue, per se. My issue is the list of courses that are within 15-20 minutes:

BRCC
UClub
CCL

Santa Maria
Webb
LSU
City Park

Just wish there were more/better options in town, not in Zachary.
