I'll be getting a One and keeping my old 360. WGAF about backwards comparability ? It's not like they don't work anymore.

I don't get bothered by backwards compatibility but some people love that option.
Its not a console killer
One of the best things about the last generation of consoles for me was how older games were being loaded into PSN and XBL and linked to an account that you could download whenever you wanted and just play.
I thought we were going to have a timeless collection of classics all in one place that we'd have forever, but this isn't the case.
It's much more appealing to just stick to PC gaming and use emulators now.

This event was what I expected it to be. Anyone that's frustrated with how they handled things (lack of games), were just setting themselves up to be disappointed.
Remember, this was a one hour show designed with the TV broadcast in mind.
ETA: Also, the pre-owned game issue isn't a concern of mine, but I suppose that I can understand the reaction to the news.
ETA2: If the fee is less than $60, people will get over it. Although, I give that about a 10% chance of actually being the case.

Which may not even provide that much of an advantage.
Both look to employ unified memory architectures. So, it seems Sony sacrificed CPU performance by opting for high latency GDDR5, while Microsoft is (supposedly) sacrificing GPU performance by going with the lower bandwidth of DDR3.
It's a wash really.

Gamestop will now give you even less for your trade ins because they will have to account for the fees.
Yep, they will have no other choice if they want to stay in business.

There are very few old games I pull out to play.
I usually will pull out the old Super Nintendo or 64 once or twice a year.

Different architecture they said. They would have to port all the old games again. I doubt it's profitable for studios to do that for a few sales on PSN and Xbox Live.

And they SHOULD charge less for the games to account for it also. But that's not gonna happen, essentially sealing their fate.

I am saying they will have to give you less in order to sell the games for less because of the fees.

GameStop isn't all bad. Sometimes I find a rare gem.
But they are about 99% bad.
Much prefer selling games through an amazon account and getting 40 rather than 25.

they will then sell the game back to you for even cheaper as well... something tells me this might backfire on them for this gen.
I'm a consumer, I see a "new" game on the shelf - the new game is listed as $60.. but the used game is listed as $30 because there is a hidden fee of $30 when you install it on your xbox.. I still buy the $30 game (because the average person is a complete idiot) because $30 still looks waaaaay better than $60, and guess what, the perceived value of THAT game goes way down, extremely fast.

When will games start to hit for this thing? I assume once these new games start coming out, we will be forced into the new console.

I mean we can make up scenarios all day and yours may happen a few times at first but tech consumers are smarter than you give them credit for.
The people it will happen to are parents who are buying a game to shut little Johnny up and don't know any better.

You will have to go cable to use the TV feature FWIW.
Are you sure ? It said you have to have a compatible TV receiver with an HMDI output. Sounds like your cable or satellite box might fedd to the X-Box then to the TV

Like I said the One will be a pass through mostly with some functionality added to it.
