Microsoft has confirmed that all Xbox One games will require mandatory installation onto the system's hard drive and, to install the same disc onto another user's drive, a fee must be paid.
Individual games will be tied to Xbox Live accounts, Microsoft said, meaning that the software giant can detect whether a game has been sold to a retailer and repurchased, or handed from one friend to another. In such instances, the second user must pay a fee.
I know people will overreact to this but I don't buy used games or trade shite away so this doesn't bother me at all.
It's the future of digital media and we will all have to adapt to it one day.
That being said, why not just make new release downloadable day one like Steam does and save me the headache of going to a physical location. Also, this could allow more self publishing and cheaper prices to the consumer.

The difference in power between the systems will be negligible again this gen. The only difference being the PS4 will not be as hard to develop for.

This needs to be elaborated on.

and figure out how to pull our signal for free...?!
I doubt this would be possible. The Xbox One looks more like a pass through. I have a pass through hooked onto my DirecTV now in the form of a HDPVR. The only info they would have to share is the guide menu.
You still can't hack a DirecTV signal as easily as the old days.

I like having the digital version of games. I guess I'm weird in that regard. It's more convenient

It's a really bad move, to be honest. A lot of people are going to hate MS for this.

You do realize their specs are pretty damn close? The only thing PS4 may have on Xbox is the GDDR5 ram.

So I can no longer let a friend borrow a game, huh? What kind of fee are they talking about?

If you were hoping to play your vast collection of Xbox 360 games on Microsoft's latest creation, we've got a spot of bad news. Microsoft Xbox Live VP Marc Whitten confirmed to The Verge that the new Xbox One console will have no backwards compatibility whatsoever. "No, there's not," said Whitten, when we posed the question. "The system is based on a different core architecture, so back-compat doesn't really work from that perspective."

That model will kill GameStop and gamefly.
Hopefully digital times rentals will be offered. I just don't care to buy a game that once I beat it I never play it again.

PS4 isn't backwards compatible and neither were the PS3 or 360 outside of right at first on very few games and the very first batch of consoles. Why is everyone harping on this?
