This is how I feel about all these handheld gaming devices in general. I spend 100% my time gaming laying on my very comfy couch in front of a large 4K tv, holding a properly sized controller.

It's by far the most optimal and enjoyable way to play games to the point I have absolutely no interest at all in playing any of other way. I own a Switch and have never once played it in handheld mode.

The major utility I see with a handheld gaming device is keeping kids occupied in they stuck somewhere awhile they're likely to bored. So if you're on a long road trip or stuck at the airport or something.

So there is a legitimate audience for these devices and I'm just not a part of it.

But I think much like when the PS and Xbox chased the motion control craze following the Wii. The audience for PS/Xbox overlaps very little with the audience for desired for and use for handhelds. As an adult I can occupy myself more easily in situations were I"m stuck somewhere bored. Also, if a legit banger game had just dropped, say a Bloodborne 2, why would you compromise your experience playing it on a handheld? I'd much rather wait a few hours and play it properly at home in the premier setup.

Seems solid.

Very nice it has integration with Steam, GOG, Battlenet, Ubisoft connect and of course Game Pass all while running W11.

This. Nice that it's not locked down to some proprietary OS for Gamepass. This will sell well if it's reasonably priced

Too often I'm sitting on the sofa next to Mrs TTown playing Slay the Spire or Balatro on my tablet while she watches something on the tv that I'm not too invested in. I very recently started looking at handhelds to pass that time.

I'm interested, but doubt I'm holding off till the holidays for this. Probably just grab a Steam Deck instead of waiting.

I wonder how this would work with the "multiple logins" issue. Just not viable if I can't play a game on this while my kid plays on the X. This is one of my only complaints with Game Pass in general. I can't play a game on my phone if my kid is playing a Game Pass game on my X.

Even though the misses likes gaming (we have an Xbox, switch, rog ally z1e, and a logitech g cloud), I play a ton on hand held. I feel guilty taking up the living room tv to play games. If she want to play xbox, I play one of the handhelds. I actually prefer my rog ally for shooting games bc of gyro aiming.

Only gripe about the ally are the joysticks are too loose for my liking (about to remedy that with changing out the springs) and small hard drive (about to install a 2tb. The battery life sucks, but I play it plugged in, so that doesn't really matter to me. If I want long battery life, I'll play the switch or play steam/Xbox remotely on the gcloud.

Eta: haven't dove into the new product, but seems pointless, as the ally or ally x can already do xbox

I just bought the Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS and the Z1E chip earlier today. It comes in on Thursday. Pretty pumped.

There is a procedure to sharing Game Pass on multiple consoles at the same time in the same household but Im not sure how it works with mobile cloud or if there will be solution for the ROG. If it has the same Xbox system dashboard you may just be able to follow the same steps

Yep, and that works great.

Unfortunately, it doesn't.

I'm sure this handheld will be great but I can't see the viability if I can only use it when no one else is using my account.

Yeah, cloud is a no go if someone is playing on console. You can however play gamepass pc games on rog ally.

That really is my only real complaint with Game Pass so far. I understand why it's set up that way, but it's very frustrating.

Do we think this will play NCAA football?

I tried Madden on the rogue ally X, but ESPN kicks me outta the game for cheating even tho I'm doing the training camp exercises...

I have my ROG Ally connected to my tv most of the time with an Xbox pro controller and a 4tb external.

So it’s a console, pc, and a handheld all in one. It’s amazing more people haven’t realized this.

The Xbox version of it will just be an Xbox centric, hopefully smoother interface, version of what I’m already doing.

Looked up prices on these. Man $550 and $650 for the OLEDs is nuts.
