Haven't seen a W3,Skyri, or ME worthy game in almost three years. I guess it's why I stopped gaming so much, the new releases suck or the don't exist.

Regardless of people’s opinions on the game…

Breath of the Wild.
The Witcher 3 was the last game that I was really obsessed with outside of Zelda.
DragonQuest Builders 2 was another one and I just started playing DragonQuest XI. Those are both great

Gaming had a bit of a peak during the PS3/360 era.
People still took chances on new IPs.
Bioshock - new IP
Left 4 Dead - new IP
Fallout 3 (basically new, big departure)
Skyrim (not new, but has anything matched it since?)
Alan Wake - new IP
Dead Space - new IP
Battlefield Bad Company 2/BF3 (not new but awesome)
Mass Effect Series New IP
Gears of War new IP
COD 4 - not new but really launched the modern multiplayer COD era.
Portal
Red Dead Redemption (red dead revolver existed but was an entirely different game)
Badman Arkham City
Rock Band
Borderlands
The graphics are better now but the innovation isn't there. I think there's so much more $$ invested they don't want to take big chances.
I don't think the market will crash like it did in the 80s but it is stale.

Horizon Zero Dawn is the last game I think would fit that mold, but that was over three years ago as well.

FFVII remake was pretty damn good. Same with Persona5 Royale

Speaking of Epic, Control is currently free on the EGS.

This is the problem. We are in the age of franchises and remakes in both gaming and tv. While not impossible, it's hard to get funding for new IP's since they are higher risk.

List of Epic Games - Wiki
Looks like either Fortnite or a mobile Rocket League game.
You're welcome.

I actually own Control. Looks like I have about 2 hours of playtime on Steam, and just kinda stopped. No issue with the game; I just had other games on my docket that pulled me away. I need to get back to it.

I'm perfectly fine with sitting in an era of remasters for a bit. There are some incredible "modern classic" games that are becoming extremely difficult to get working, or at least working well, on modern hardware.

Just play Ashes of Creation when it comes out. You know you want to

I know this is going to hurt a little bit, but BotW was released over four years ago
