I just showed my 14 y/o gamer son and he was impressed
He thinks I’m a total loser bc we had an Atari (that I barely remember) and then my younger brother got a PS1 while I was away at college

out of the ones you posted SNES
N64 probably logged the most hours for my family.
we owned every console to come out minus the Saturn and PS1.
to this day N64 is still my favorite mostly from nostalgia but also that was the system that most revolutionized gaming to me but man to this day FRICK THOSE CONTROLLERS
Mario 64 - first major 3d game
Star Fox 64 - Rumble Pack and revolutionized flight mechanics
Ocarina - first major open world RPG
Goldeneye - revolutionized FPS and multiplayer
first mid console generation upgrade - the ram pack
I dont miss memory cards

PS1 was great in its own right. Their controller model has basically stood the test of time as their first template is mostly what they still have today
introduced some great franchises like Metal Gear, Resident Evil, Twisted Metal, Tomb Raider, Need For Speed, Gran Turismo, Tekken
actually hope one day they revive the MGS franchise.

I was blown away by the writing and direction in MGS. I cared about Sniper Wolf..hated having to do that.

Twisted Metal
All for a revival of this. Especially if they ever get VR right.

Had an NES, SNES and N64. My most played has to be the N64 considering it’s been 24 years and I’m still playing mine every once in a while

Did any of yall ever have a 3DO? That was next level back in the day. We got one and had need for speed and some theme park game.

In retrospect, they knew their shite from shinola

Yup! Had Road Rash, Gex, Return Fire (one of the GOATS), Twisted Game Show, and Shock Wave. Obviously the system didn't last long, but it was a great piece of hardware at the time.

PS2 is still the greatest console ever made.

I don't. After Phantom Pain any continuation of this series is dead to me.
MGS2&3 though are maybe my favorite games of all time.

Never had a neo geo.
We had an NES and SNES, but played the SEGA Genesis the most. Finally got a 64 in 8th grade (it was already super dated). Only played PlayStations when friends brought them over.

I was more blown away by the jump the PS1 made. When ps1 first came out, it didn't have a fan base in north America yet and people weren't expecting anything. I was fortunate enough to grow up with hard-core gamers who let me in on what was coming. So when I got to play twisted metal, mk3, resident evil, etc..it was a New world.
Ps1 made it so the 2 was as heavily anticipated as it was. It really bridged a leap forward.
So that actually may make it one of the most "Important" consoles ever made, instead of best. Best may be these new systems coming now, when putting nostalgic comfort aside lol

Phantom Pain
I liked MGS 1 & 2. Except Raiden kinda annoyed me, could have given him a less iconic name and introduced him a little differently.

We had these plus wing commander starring mark hamill too. Gex and his sequels were great and my first real gaming parody that I understood.

Plus you could plug an emulator to the back of ps1 to play Japanese games.
I believe with the ps2 you had to actually solder a chip onto the mother board or something.

I was 7-8 years old and saved my money for months to get an N64, that was my first "big" purchase ever. This was my first game. My buddy and I were still playing this game 10 years later, something about it held up really well. It was almost like NBA jam but leaned a little more towards actual basketball. I would play with the Bulls and Kerr would nail 3s all game. I guess they couldn't get Jordan to sign on so the bulls had some random black guy named "player" that had insane stats
