BotW and Super Mario Odyssey are both great and exclusive to switch. There’s a bunch of ports available now, so you have a good selection of a lot older games from your favorite genre.

What games do you like?
DK Tropical Freeze
Super mario odyssey
Legend of Zelda
Splatoon 2 is really a ton of fun
Xenoblade 2 is a great JRPG
Mario Kart if your looking for a racing game
And Mario Tennis comes out at the end of this month
Also the Mario Rabbids game has a cult following. I've never played it but its been one i've heard alot of people talk about

I liked Odyssey but had a hard time keeping interested in it after finishing the game. And there are apparently 300+ moons I've yet to find.

I asked for the Switch from my wife just for these two games. I got Oddyssey first, and, if you get these two games, I would recommend the same. I really liked Odyssey and had a great time playing it. It is a ton of fun that brought back memories of Mario 64. Having said that, once I beat the game, I sort of lost interest in continuing to find the rest of the 800 or so moons.

Now, I've been playing BOTW since February. It is just on a whole different level. The size of the game is incredible. I am doing everything I can just to avoid beating the game.

For me, the Switch has been worth it just for these games to bring me back to my N64 days.

Mario Rabbids is a must have if you like turn based strategy similar to X-Com.

Obviously Zelda BoTW and Mario Odyssey are the big first party titles. If you like strategy games at all, Mario + Rabbids is utterly fantastic. Splatoon 2 is really fun and is getting a huge single player expansion soon. Though not a reason to buy the system, if you do decide to get one after all, pick up Golf Story on the eshop. It's a fun and hilarious throwback golfing sim/rpg on the eshop. There's also some great Wii U ports and indie games, but they aren't console exclusive.

This sounds stupid, but I think the first game I'd buy on the Switch would be Skyrim

And that’s why Bethesda keeps doing what they are doing.

Funny switch story, I borrowed my friend's for a work trip a few months ago, and I had just boarded for a 2 hour flight and was getting it all situated to play. Hands were full, so I took a cartridge and put it in my mouth for a second or so to do something else. Took it out, looked around, and that horrible taste hit me. I thought I had eaten some bad popeye's in the airport, but then remembered they coated the games for some bizarre reason

I certainly didn’t find all of the moons, but I ran around a decent bit and certainly got money’s worth out of SMO.

I would just start off with Zelda BOTW. Save your money because you wont play anything else for a while. Great game. Buy other games after finishing BOTW.
