Is this harder than Breath of the Wild?
I wouldn't necessarily say harder, but there's an absurdly large amount of extra things to do.
I think it's much more difficult to gather all of the needed ingredients to upgrade armor. They also got rid of the durians, so if you used them in BotW to get a constant heart buff, you're out of luck here.
If you want to, you can get around a lot of what the game intends you to do by building machines/tools to make traveling easier. The new abilities also make it easier to bypass parts of the game that you can tell probably weren't intended by the designers.
There are also a TON of arrows available in the game in wooden crates, so you're never really forced to buy them like in BotW. (and just like BotW, bows/arrows make fights a lot easier) I also picked up literally every plant I came across in the early game, so always had fruits available to add effects to arrows.
Now that I've finished the game, I've seen some YouTube videos that make everything so much easier that I just never thought about doing. Like someone posted earlier, I never thought about using riju's ability to destroy rock walls, which would have saved me a ton of time in certain areas.
Parts of the game are definitely more difficult, but you can make things much easier if you have an active imagination and like to try random things out.

I've only got less than a dozen light roots left.

Same. I don’t like the depths.
It’s unnerving.

Bros, it's gonna be a mfer to get 100%.
I got 650 Koroks and I'm ready to rip my own eyeballs out of my head. 350 to go lol
Somehow, I'm missing 1 shrine quest I didn't activate although I got all the shrines, so I gotta find some rando NPC to auto-complete it.
I got all the Hinox and Moldugas done. But I have 2 Taluses to find and holy crap that's a PITA. also still have 3 side quests to find. So far, I haven't used a guide, but I'm just about to pull the trigger. It's just going to always stick in my craw when I do use one, though lol

how on earth have you NOT used a walkthrough?

One thing that bothers me about this game is how they added things to the map that are meaningless. I'm glad they did things to make it a little different, but some of those changes are disappointing.
For instance the desert rift. I came across it exploring and it makes the discovery music and I look at the map and I'm like "ok this is new and has to have some stuff". Nope. A couple of meaningless swords in chests and that's it.
Same with the heroines thing in the underground shelter. There's a damn mirror puzzle for absolutely zero payoff

Finally got into Gerudo Town and just discovered the underground passage to the Northern Ruins to find Riju. This sector of the map and the Gerudo in general truly are my least favorite in the whole BOTW/TOTK universe.
Also discovered the quest line that opens the Tobio's Hollow chasm totally on accident while I was exploring some of the invited sky Islands. Kudos to whomever recommended using Heros Path to serve as a check to ensure you've actually visited specific Archipelagos.

By playing as stupidly boring as possible (ie, spending way too much time speaking to every NPC and using Hero's Path to scoure every nook and cranny.
Found the missing shrine quest. Got everything done except for like 15 side quests. I didn't realize each stable had a stupid painting quest
I'll end up using a guide for the rest of the Koroks. Pretty much have to.

quote:fight the bosses from on top of the building at whatever stage-I forget. much easier. lift the cement top behind the throne. also aside from the wells to jump in with all the message in the bottles. go on the rooftop and look for where water falls down and jump in-find white pillars ascend up- to buy the gerudo full gear.

Finally raised the Lightning Temple. This go-around I don't actively hate the Gerudo.

By far my favorite temple. The whole experience is the closest to an old school Zelda dungeon.

I saved it for last as well. I will say it felt the most different from BOTW, which was nice. I am still playing through it, and it has been really enjoyable.

Just cleared the Lightning Temple and all the regional phenomenon are now done. This one was actually my favorite of the 4.

Did I just fight an octopus barnacle riding a shark?

Pretty much.
Anyone else discover that there's a bed at East Reservoir Lake that's free to use? I dropped a Travel Medallion there for future snoozes.

I'm halfway through the Lightning Temple and it is by far the best one. I like that it is actually inside a building, so it feels like a temple/dungeon.
