As a single player, start with Classic Mode. It's in the Games and More Section on the screen. Pick your Fighter.

Then, like any fighter, you'll fight 8 matches, 6 fights against normal characters in different situations (like you might fight a pair. Or someone who is giant). Then you have 1 non-fight game - think Street Fighter bust the car up thing. Then the boss fight against 1 Or Two End Game Bosses.

Once you've done that a couple of times, you can probably take on the Adventure Mode which is under the Spirit selection on the main screen.

Fight rules in smash change frequently. There are three main ways:
Percentage, Single (most Classic fights are this) - Your goal is to knock the other fighter off the stage. You need to, typically, damage them to above 75% or so then most attacks will send them further and further. "Smash" attacks are holding a direction plus the Hit button.

Stock - A version of Percentage where you have to do that to an enemy multiple times before the fight is over. 3 Stock fights means you have to do the above, knock them off the stage, 3 times.

Stamina - Typical fighter. They start with a Stamina level and you have to get it to 0. Don't worry about knocking them off the stage.


Adventure mode starts to add in wild stuff. Wind that will push you one way or the other. Multiple fighters. Even someone where you have to knock off like 16 mini characters. Gravity changes, etc.

Given some of the language I wonder if the "last" character turns into more than 1. I think there's an outside chance of that.

If I had to bet it's Sora....

I’m surprised that Rayman was never added.

We got the unexpected crossover with Mario and Rabbids, but no Rayman in Smash.

A travesty

With the way they cut the reveal trailer, I thought for a second it was going to be a dark souls character.

Would have been quite a shock if solaire made it in.

So, how does one get sora? Do you have to download an update or something?

A little disappointed that they couldn't get the Disney characters in as assist characters, or even in the background on the stage. That makes me think Disney didn't sign off on this at all, since only Square Enix characters are being utilized. I also wish the keyblade graveyard would have been the setting for the stage.



ETA: Those are minor complaints though. It's awesome that Sora is going to be in KH.

I don't see how it would be possible to top Ultimate.

At least they have a home run new character they can add in Waluigi.

Wish they didn’t do either Kazuya or Byleth as DLC and replaced both with Rayman and Master Chief (both would have definitely taken the invite). There are too many Fire Emblem characters as it is and Kazuya’s learning curve is just ridiculous. I know he wanted every major fighting franchise, but in that case go with a character from Soul Caliber. Tekken just isn’t compatible with Smash. When Ryu was revealed, we all instantly understood how he’d work.
