Shovelware has been around since the 2600, Intellivision, and Colecovision were duking it out. The NES and Master System had a ton of it. The SNES and Genesis had a ton of it. The original PlayStation had a ton of it. The PlayStation 2 had just as much, if not more, shovelware (by percentage of releases) as the Wii did.
The PS2 library also had some third-party gems and niche fillers (such as Okami, Katamari Damacy, Disgea) to help fill the crap soup with some nuggets of quality. Just like the Wii library (Muramasa, Sky Crawlers, No More Heroes).
Whichever console is the sales leader in the next generation (or the second half of this generation, if Sony, Microsoft, and any other potential entrant decide to wait 5 more years) will feature a game library with a ton of crap shovelware and a few nuggets of quality. That's how the software side of things have always worked, regardless of the strength of the industry.

And the only thing that would pull me back is maybe Chrono Trigger on the Virtual console
Chrono Trigger was released on a couple of weeks ago on the virtual console, so go grab it! I just started it back up recently myself

I'm getting it despite their God-awful presentation of it. Because even though they showed very little of the actual Wii U footage (almost all of the clips shown at the beginning were Wii or crappy avatar footage), what I saw was impressive. That tech demo with the bird was nice, and is only the tip of the iceberg graphics-wise. Plus, I trust Nintendo to put out great 1st party games. Even in the darker years for noncasual gamers (Wii years), they put out great 1st party titles. Add in tons of committed 3rd party support, and I'm definitely sold. Also, I'm fan of the controller

I'm coming around on this thing, I agree that their 1st party stuff is always solid which will be the major selling point for me right now.

Nintendo easily has the best 1st party content out there. That's the only reason I bought a Wii.
Needless to say, I'll be getting a Wii U (stupid arse name). I will continue to buy all my 3rd party stuff on 360 unless the Wii U has some kind of amazing online platform. I assume it will be more like PSN rather than XBL.
I really like the idea of each player seeing different things on their screens which adds up to a larger picture. It was pretty cool seeing the shuriken and golf demo also.
As far as some comments earlier in the thread, if the Wii U isn't more powerful than the 360 and PS3 then Nintendo is just wasting their time (just like the original Wii)

Rumor is that's it's more powerful. I'm the same way, unless they do something amazing online with 3rd party games I'm gonna be getting one just for Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid Etc

Are some of you nuts? The presentation was awesome at what can be achieved with this console. Really really impressive technology and I'm sold on this sucker once a little more news comes out.

It's a cool concept and I was impressed with the controller but I would like to hear more about the console itself rather than the controller. So far I think Nintendo has had the best E3 presentation

Details will come. We've got tons of time before its released. I remember Iwata holding up a cardboard cutout of Revolution (wii) back in 2005, and thats all we got. This was definitely a more detailed reveal.

Probably a safe assumption.

I'd agree with this too. It has to be by some degree. It doesn't have to be much better, because I do not think the hardware needs this generation will jump much, if at all.
There are some early spec leaks that seem promising.
