so playing through windwaker atm and I'm at the part with the bird people on their island. the part where the little gitl Medli just got picked up while trying to climb the mountain to get to the dragon. well I've been wondering around for at least an hour trying to figure out what my next step was after I talked to what I think is the chief bird. anyway I finally buckled and had to look at the guide. fill that empty bottle the girl gave me with water and grow those stupid bomb plants.
I thought about needing to blast that rock with a bomb plant but couldn't figure out how to get a bomb into that pit. remember thinking, boy I sure wish those dead plants up there were alive wouldn't of ever thought to grow them back.
Yep I did exactly this

but Twilight Princess is probably my favorite Zelda game
you're not totally alone. I need to play through it again soon. Love that game. My only complaint with it is how dead hyrule feels. I prefer SS hyrule to TP hyrule simply because it feels more alive, yet it is completely unsettled.

Those were a big deal back then!

Its been a long time since I've played through Twilight Princess and I could be wrong, but isn't that how Hyrule was supposed to feel? Wasn't that the tone the game needed?

Hyrule in Twilight Princess was supposed to have a feeling of emptiness. Every place you went to almost was covered in twilight that you had to extinguish. When you restored the light spirits and all that...it restored the liveliness of that community.
I never got why a good bit of the fandom absolutely loathed it, not counting the controls. Besides Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess made all the other zelda games look like an abortion.
I really hope that game gets an HD remake. The graphics have the chance to be absolutely incredible.

Twilight Princess is a great game, people didn't like that they made Ganon the final boss and made the game feel like an OoT redux.
I loved it though, and the hate for it borders on ridiculous.

I really need to replay that game. Tried to play through it again before Skyward Sword came out, but there was a scratch on my disc, and I couldn't advance through one of the levels.

That's pretty much the whole premise of the Zelda universe in general though
Starting with Demise, the hate of the goddesses and gods keeps on manifesting itself into a new physical form in Ganon throughout the centuries. So yeah, while it was a bit unoriginal and kind of unneeded, it wouldn't be a Zelda game without it. I mean shite.
The ending composed of fighting Zant(a while beforehand but still), then Puppet Zelda, then Ganon, then Ganondorf and his Horsemen and THEN a final showdown in Hyrule field with just you and Ganondorf. That's a hell of a way to end a game if you ask me.

quote:I actually kinda saw that plot twist coming. To me, the story always felt like someone was behind Zant pulling the strings. It wasn't a huge shock to me, and I always love getting to kick Ganon's arse. The fight against Zant was great, but the fight against Ganon in TP is one of my favorite boss fights in any game ever.

ETA: For what it's worth, I'm one of those Zelda fans that would be perfectly fine with Ganon being the bad guy in every Zelda game from now till the end of time. He just doesn't get old to me. To me, he's just as much a part of Zelda as Link is.

kind of, but not really. The areas not covered in twilight are dead and boring and once you have all the areas uncovered it is still boring.

Yep, and the Triforce had nothing to do with the plot. It was used as a catalyst why the Twili were banished, but that's really it. If the Triforce is unnecessary for a Zelda story, don't go with Ganon as your antagonist. It's clear he was a last minute addition and they caved into the fan's demands.
I really liked the game, but they just caved into fans too much.

Why? Nostalgia. That's about it. They're great games, but nostalgia is the biggest factor.
Ocarina of time for 64 is my favorite game ever. So ahead of its time.

If you go to the Wii channel and use the Wii shop Majora's Mask is supposed to be on there, and theres a vocal part of the fan base that believe that game is better than Ocarina of Time.
I know a lot of people who think MM is better than OoT. I enjoyed them both a lot but MM was a step down with the story but still great.

If anything it's more related to A Link to the Past than anything being Ganon manipulates someone else to bring about his resurgence from the Dark World.

These are my feelings as well, people bash the crap out of that game. Ganon wasn't just thrown into it at the end, there are subtle hints throughout the game that give you the feeling of Ganon and then halfway through the game there is confirmation that it's Ganon in a cutscene.
The only thing that got to me about the game at times were the quirky controls, but it wasn't that big of a deal.
