Not the caustic answer most will give you. . .but it is six of one, half dozen of the other.

I have all the current gen consoles, and a gaming PC

of the consoles, I spend most of my time on Xbox. . .and only because the battery packs I bought last longer than the PS5 controllers.

-Gamepass>>>>PSPlus

-PS5 has the best exclusives (until Bethesda and Activision go exclusive)

-Hardware is functionally identical.

-Both controllers are horrible with stick drift, happened multiple times on both.

This is me. I use the XBox as my media hub, and I much prefer the XBox Controller.

if this is all you care about at the end of the day then i dont think either matters much.

if you want access to more exclusives/better exclusives go with PS
if you want access to a ton of games in general with a relatively cheap subscription fee, go with xbox.

Keep in mind we will likely be seeing a PS5 pro version soon , most speculate this fall. You may want to wait until then to grab that if you decide PS5, or get the base which will likely see a price reducation.

I’ll ask here instead of starting a new thread. I too plan on getting a new system for college football. I’m going with the ps5 slim, however Don’t want the white plates. Can anyone give me tips on how easy they are to replace and where to find the best plates. Do cooling vented plates actually work?

I’m just glad Microsoft is allowing PS to stay alive. They must like the fight.

I believe Sony sells plates for the slim disk model. If you are going with that model, I'd go with the official plates from Sony. I've seen some 3rd party plates that looked like a Temu version of a PS5, the Sony ones look much better

If you enjoy the exclusives that are only ever going to be released to PlayStation, buy that. If you don’t care, buy Xbox.

Xbox hardware is better for most multiplayer games. PS5 runs better for those massive single player games that constantly have to load up maps as you progress. The difference is marginal.

Xbox controller has always felt much more balanced than a PlayStation controller IMO. I don’t care for some of those functions the newer PlayStation controllers have (like the red/blue lights coming on when being chased in GTA) and I usually turn off vibration for most games I play anyway.

It’s very likely you’ll eventually utilize your console for more than just one game. Everyone will tell you Xbox Game Pass is leagues above the PS+ equivalent which offers nowhere near the same value. Most games now are becoming cross-platform compatible so you don’t have to worry about being locked into a specific console to play with friends. Both consoles also have the ability to add Discord which is what almost all PC users use to VC.

At the end of the day it’s up to you. I would say Xbox for GamePass alone.

PC is better overall, but NCAA 25 isn't being released for PC this year(or maybe ever, who knows). PS5 is probably the safest option

I don't understand the appeal of this point. I have a Roku it streams multiple apps off of it. How is an Xbox any better?

You probably don’t need both the Roku and Xbox if you want to use the Xbox to run your media apps.

It’s not an apples to apples comparison

Same with PS4 discs (if you get the disc version of PS5)

I don't think that it's any "better" just that an XBox can do everything a Roku can do. So if you have an XBox already, you don't need a separate device for streaming

Well I can't play my XBox games on Roku. And the Xbox is faster. So why do I need a different device to stream when my XBox can do all of that?

I’m getting mixed reviews from my peers on which I better. I went from PS2 to Xbox 360 then to PS4 but wasn’t a huge fan of PS4.

What say you TD?

The PS5 is the better system. PS+ and Gamepass are both mid. Xbox has the better controller. PS has better exclusives.

Take that for what its worth.

What about Series S?

Getting downvoted...but it's a serious steal. I have the X and the S. The S plays everything JUST FINE. Just at lower resolutions, but I have it on a smaller TV. It's also very portable, the size of a medium hard-back book. You can throw it in your backpack and take it with you.

ps5 outsells xbox 5 to 1. If you're a fan of FPS games, you'll be better off with the ps5. Reason being - crossplay. PC players have an advantage over console users in FPS games. So when I'm playing battlefield or CoD, I will sometimes turn crossplay off and you will have more full servers on PS5.

As far as NCAA, i think either would be fine with it.
