The only issues I have of it shutting down are when it's in Rest Mode. It doesn't happen all the time, but periodically.

The issue still exists and it's annoying though

Not on mine, I’m sure I’ll eventually have a game lock up just like every console I have owned.

The only issue I ended up having is when I fist got it. I went through the initial setup, getting PSN account signed in, games and save data downloaded. I'd fire it up the next day and I had to do the initial setup for it again. Can't recall what the fix for it was but it hasn't been a problem since.

I’ve had it happen with mine. It was shutting of during gameplay. I cleaned it out and the problem went away, seemed like I had a fair amount of dust buildup. I haven’t had any issues since I cleaned it out, so I’m assuming it was an issue with overheating.

I haven't had this issue nor the issue with it shutting down in rest mode. But I'll be damned if this thing won't update games in rest mode. It will update system software, but games...nada.

My ps5 has never once shut off during gameplay or while streaming tv/movies. I do think mine has shut off during rest mode a few times.

My XBone does love to randomly turn itself on for no reason at all multiple times a day though.

Did anyone use this argument for the RRoD with the X360 and if not, are we beyond the statute of limitations?

This was an issue for me when I first got my PS5. They updated and I think it's happened once since then. Been quite a while

Probably has it in an enclosed cabinet and it's going into thermal shutdown.

Only thing I've had is that the picture will cut out but the console won't shut off. Have to unplug/plug the HDMI back in and it's fine. Probably more of a TV issue me thinks.

Yes, cases were filed against Microsoft for a variety of issues with the 360:

Never happened to me, but happened to my brother-in-law twice since recently opening the box. It's definitely a thing.

I've had this happen as well. It can be a pain when a game doesn't auto update, and I go to play and have to wait for the update to finish.

I've never had it shut down in the middle of a gaming session though.
