Wow that sucks, but that little girl will bring you more joy than any machine ever could.
Deep breath and build a computer out of your spares that will still shame most of us.

No need. 3 hours of painstaking alcohol swabbing and remounting blocks and radiators, and I appear to be back in business.
When it happened, I just put my wife in charge of my daughter the rest of the evening so she wouldn't see how upset I was

Good to hear all is well, quick action and a calm head. I can't imagine if something like that happened with my new system.

Got the Sapphire TRI-X OC R9 290 today for $219.99 brand new. Pulled the trigger, best deal for a 290 today.

Anybody have trouble formatting an SSD?
Tried reinstalling Windows 7. Blew away partition, now it won't let me create a new one during OS installation. Can't find where to do it in the ASUS GUI.
Was going to take the long route and install OS on HDD, then format SSD in computer management, then reinstall on SSD.. Won't allow me to change anything with my 2 HDD because they're spanned.

It won't let you continue with installation at all? All partitions on the SSD should be deleted and the hard drives unplugged when you do the install. Windows installation disc will let you delete all the partitions on the SSD and install a fresh OS. If you want additional partitions on the SSD, just do that in Windows.

Took this screen from a Destiny player on Twitch, the neon in the background changes with the beat of the music.

Deleted both partitions on SSD, extended the one that was system partition..
So yea it's 1 disk with no partitions. I'm offshore right now, don't remember if it gave me a reason but it tells me it can't be formatted
Intel 730 series

I was looking at that one when I was getting a 4k, but ultimately ended up going with the Asus. Glad I went with the Asus over that one

Better panel and a 100x better stand, which was vital since I move it so often

Yea that stand looks like shite

Better panel
I'm having trouble finding any difference between the two panels in spec sheets and reviews. Seems to all come down to the stand and the fact that the Samsung isn't VESA compatible so you'd be stuck with the stand.
$400 vs. $560 is very tempting though... But I've already decided that my next monitor needs to have g-sync.

Didn't have any trouble with mine.

I am wanting to get a desktop for multiple purposes, including gaming
thought about trying to build it myself but looks like it may be more trouble than i think, and i dont want to frick anything up
are there sites that will put the computer together for you and allow you to pick whatever part? (this is probably a dumb question)
also, is cyber monday a good day to look for some computer deals?

ibuypower and cyberpowerpc are the two I know of. Haven't used them personally, though.

It's not, it's really easy if you can read and watch youtube.

I had a ibuypower PC before I started building and it worked well and is still going today 6 years later the only thing that was replaced was the HD.

Anyone out there able to look around for a great deal today? I just don't have time today and I have a single mom at work asking me to find her a sub $600 computer that is ok for gaming for her son. She can't afford to go over that.
I haven't really looked at anything that cheap in a long time.
He mostly plays minecraft and eventually wants to learn to build a computer. So a good base for something he can upgrade Gfx card/SSD/Ram later would be great.
