If you want a cheaper nvidia you can do what I did and periodically check the evga bstock cards.

Anyone having issues with amd's latest beta drivers? I'm running at nearly half core clock under load and inquisition is having DirectX hangups...can't even get out of the opening cinematic.

Dragon Age: Inquisition crashes during the opening cinematic. Dragon Age: Origins drops frame rate constantly. Arkham City runs 100% usage but won't clock past 500. HL2 won't clock past 500 either.
reposted for real help and inquisition runs at full core clock while the other games do not

Did a little more research -- mostly forum posts of people with similar problems, and of course the thread ends with no resolution. (side rant: if you ever post on a forum for help, for the love of Christ, follow up on the thread and let people know how you fixed it, even if the fix was "I replaced it.")

Someone suggested downloading the HIS iTurbo program, which as an option to "disable 2D clocks" and it worked for this person. LINK

Disabling 2D clocks basically tells the vbios to always run at full clock speed no matter what's running. If that setting still causes you to throttle to 500Mhz, you may have a hardware problem -- either GPU or power supply, or less likely, the PCIe slot.

If you do run this program, don't open afterburner at all. If the problem still persists using the HIS program, I would uninstall afterburner and all of its profile settings completely.

Also, did you use Atiman to wipe your drivers? If not, try that as well before reinstalling drivers.

And, what are your Power Settings in windows? Specifically, PCIe Link State Power Management

Just to make it more complicated, the gpu runs full clock speeds on 3d mark.

Eta: pci express was on moderate. I disabled it.

Used atiman, loaded beta drivers, launched inquisition, crashed during first cinematic.

Same frame rate issues with origins

Arkham city is fine, hl2 is fine.

Diablo ran like garbage

Work is killing me this week. Nov was our year end and I am closing the books, sales meeting yesterday and today. Last night we all went bowling, to a bar, and ended the night at the adult super store. Tonight is the Xmas party until midnight. We only have about 25 people and the booze bill last night was $850, I have $900 worth of liquor and beer in my trunk right now.

I just want some time to play a damn game.

I started having problems with AMD and Xfire about two months ago, I went back two or three driver release and things were ok, just a shot in the dark but try an older driver.

Anyone else enjoying the fckk out of FC4? (If you have a system and 1440+ display). The game makes you not even worry about campaign missions.

Still... #PS4 tLoU:R and #nVidia

Titans have been gone since this time last year, just have 780 Tis and a 980 for my living room Steam Box.

Rest of the house have AMD cards just for Steam Streaming.

Sorry... Wii U Hyrule Warriors and tLoU:R have been much more fun anyway.

I'm resisting the temptation to troll you right now because. I know how pissed off I get when my stuff doesn't work right.
