I want to RP.

Let us start a series where you, me and the dog are cops that use racial profiling as their only technique to keep the streets safe for dogs living around Vietnamese restaurants.

You realize just doing a fresh image would have been significantly faster than doing all this work right?

Yes, but if it's a hardware issue than I would've done it for nothing and be stuck troubleshooting again. Figured I'd try to narrow it down first and see if it is indeed a corrupt driver. Like I said, this literally only happens for one game so it's not a big deal

Do I just have to do this Fresh Start option in my settings? It says "Start fresh by reinstalling and updating Windows. This will keep your personal files and some Windows settings and remove most of your apps, including MS Office, third party anti-virus software, and desktop apps that came pre-installed on your device."

I just finished building my first PC ever and it feels good man. I've only ever had laptops and cheap store bought PCs but I decided to treat myself since I'm becoming more of a PC gamer and it's something that interested me since I was in HS.

I kind of feel like an idiot because I got my final part in 3 days ago, and I immediately put it together and my monitor wouldn't get a signal. I disassembled it, reassembled it like 4 times the past few days and I got really worried I fricked it up. Turns out, I was using the HDMI port from the motherboard and not the GPU. I didn't even know the GPU had an HDMI port, all the ports on it had identical rubber plugs on them, I figured they were there to help stay seated on the bracket or something.

Eventually figured it out so I reassembled it for the final time and got it to display on the monitor. I can forgive myself since this is my first ever build, we all gotta start somewhere.

Updated the drivers, but I left the BIOS alone, not gonna try overclocking it or anything. For now at least, doesn't seem necessary. After getting my apps and browser stuff in order, got on steam and booted up Halo 2 which I couldn't even play on the crappy PC I had before this and I put it on the highest settings and I'm floored by the performance.

Just wanted to share my little story because I feel like the N64 kid right now. It definitely feels rewarding and I feel like I made a big accomplishment even though it probably isn't that big of a deal to most. Specs if anyone's curious:

Mobo - ASUS Tuf Gaming Plus AM4 X570 ATX
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600x 6-core
RAM - TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 (2x 8GB)
SSD - Crucial P2 M.2 500 GB
HDD - Western Digital 3 TB
GPU - MSI GeForce RTX 2080
PSU - Seasonic FOCUS Plus 750
Case - Fractal Design Meshify C - Black

I know it aint the absolute top of the line but I feel pretty good about it. Especially considering it's my first build

Do you mind sharing your total cost?

Did you watch any videos to figure out how to do it, or did you just kinda figure it out as you went along?

The rig was about ~$1500-1600. With the monitor and speakers and keyboard/mouse and Windows probably around $2100-$2200. Most of the extra money outside of the PC build went to the monitor because what's the point of having all those specs if you don't get something that can display it in all its glory?

I did look up a couple of YouTube video tutorials while I was waiting for my parts to come in just to get an idea of what I was in for, and also to get an idea of what I'd need to do once the thing was actually built (getting the OS loaded, the drivers, etc). Once I started actually building it though, I mostly used the booklets that came with the mobo and the case since those are obviously more specified to what parts you have obviously.

The biggest issues I had was finding out I needed to use the HDMI port on the GPU, not the mobo like I mentioned already. Then also the first time I assembled it, I put the power supply in first without any of the cords. So I hooked the cords to their respective ports and then fed them to the PSU which was a pain the arse since some of the ports on the PSU were hard to reach. On subsequent reassemblies I found it much easier to do the reverse: have all the cords hooked up to the PSU and then from there feed the cords to their respective ports.

Other than that it wasn't that difficult.

Nuked my PC. Fresh Start initiated, should take 15-20 min

My new Leopold board with the brown switches came in. Omg so much better. No clue how anyone plays with those gritty, mushy reds

Preach it brother.

I still prefer blues, but no way I can get away with those at work or at the house

Just finished building my video editing/gaming workhorse... I'm officially back in the PC master race club

Here are my specs:
Gigabyte Aorus X570 Elite Wifi
AMD Ryzen 9 3900x
64 GB Patriot Viper 2666 Mhz (couldn't find enough 3200 anywhere so just gonna over clock this)
Corsair H115i RGB Platinum
EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super
Corsair Spec Omega RGB case
Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 750W
500GB WD Blue M.2 SSD (C: drive)
1 TB Samsung 860 Evo

Is there a list of steam/epic IDs somewhere in this thread? My friends list is pretty bare atm

Love my board of this (I have non-wifi) really good mid-level X570 board, notable step up from the budget ones.

Going to need much much better RAM than this. Get some 3600.

Yeah it's the first thing I'm going to upgrade for sure, it'll do for the time being since this is primarily a work build until I get everything fully paid for...

But I'll upgrade it later this year probably

ETA: I did OC the ram to 3000, so it's def. already better than out of the box

Just ordered a Gigabyte 2070 Super. Gonna have to upgrade the CPU and Mobo soon too because unless I keep my 7700k overclocked at 4.8 ghz, there’s gonna some bottlenecking caused by it.

Upgrading from a 1060 6gb

Nah not really, you should be fine

Some titles, engine specific, maybe a little but not worth a CPU upgrade for a midrange gpu.

Edt: What did you do with the 1060?

Older rumor article we probably all came across, but to get 350W, nVidia will have to draw 75W from the PCIe slot. Which im always worried about for lower tier boards.

NVIDIA’s Flagship RTX 3090 GPU Will Have A TGP Of 350W, Complete Breakdown Leaked

I'm trying to think what the OG TITANS pulled, it was no doubt spec limit.

Yeah that thing will be a heater. Np if I'm just running 1 and not SLi. The 2080 Ti is the first time I went single card in the main rig since Fermi 580. I don't see a need for SLi at the time.

Edt: back to OG TITANS. If you ran a custom vbios for the 1.212v headroom, you probably touched 300W. Specially since you probably pulled 1.287 due to voltage leak.
