Went to BestBuy yesterday to check out this new iPhone. IDK, just not impressed. We ended up walking out with the new Pixel 2.
Maybe it is just me but hate the look and feel of Apple's iOS interface.
Anyone purchased the iPhone X? Was it worth the upgrade and why? (i do like the size being between the Plus and guess Standard)

I have an iPhone 7 for my work phone. Last iPhone I had before that was the 4s. Pretty disappointing to see how little the interface has changed on the surface.
My wife seems happy with her pixel 2. I don't see anything on the market that makes me want to get rid of my oneplus 3t.

Yeah, my last iPhone was the 4S as well.
Still rocking my rooted international Galaxy S8+, favorite phone to date. Pretty sure I will skip the S9 generation and wait for 10, been able to stop doing yearly swaps phones are getting so good now.

I like it. I get an upgrade every year though.
Face ID is really nice. Size is almost perfect, would like a bit more width for videos.
Dislikes are new method for killing off open apps, alarm clock not sounding in silent mode, and miss some of the information on the top bar that is gone cause of the notch. It's taking a bit to get into the habit for some of the new shortcuts that replaced old ones.
Honestly it's not really worth an upgrade if you have a newer phone, but I like having new tech. My family is 95% Apple, so being in the ecosystem with them is well worth it over Android.

Same as you and UH.
Last iPhone was a 4S and the interface is just stupid. It looks terrible and doesn't feel as functional.

If you are stuck in that ecosystem then it makes sense. Glad we got out of it around the 4S. We all had iPads, Macbooks and even had an iMac up until 2012. I got the Nexus 5 and then got the SO onto a Moto X when Moto Xs were more like the Nexus line. Slowly replaced the iPads because they are a little dumb(esp then) and now back to windows for my mobile. The Surface line played a huge part in us not bringing in another iPad into this home in 2017. Many times I wanted a Pro but since getting the new Surface Pro, it scratched that itch.
I'm a somewhat OS X fan, but iOS is progressing but also making some bad choices in the interface department.

I'm not really stuck, I like it. I don't really find iOS a negative in comparison to Android. I switched to iOS in the Nexus era. I played the root and rom game for a long time. I still use some older Android phones for messing around with app development. I rather iOS at this point.
OSX is nice, but I like building my own computers. I did a hackintosh once, never again.

Same here.
But used to rather a MacBook for my laptop, but the shtt specs kept me away from ever upgrading.

You have $4,000 to build a system that needs everything, you don't own anything, need everything from the mouse to the monitor, so what would you build?
Don't have to spend it all, not spending on extras that don't do much or are questionable. Just a system that you would like to have to maximize performance.

Raja Koduri officially out at AMD/RTG.
Good news is the GPU side is getting higher budgets and more commitment, and the 22% overall increase in R&D can only be good for Zen+/Zen2 as well.
quote:
Our sources tell us that Lisa Su, AMD CEO, will continue to oversee RTG for the foreseeable future. AMD appreciates that such an important role cannot be the sole domain of the CEO, and to this end is actively searching for a successor to Raja. We expect the appointment to be made within a few months.
AMD is putting additional resources behind the RTG team moving forwards, we're informed, with the view of making the graphics arm of the company bigger and better.
The firm had no comment to make on whether Raja's departure has any meaningful impact on Navi, the next GPU architecture, and we take this to mean that, as far as the company is concerned, it is business as usual. And business means pushing on with new ventures such as the semi-custom Radeons for Intel H-series CPUs, announced just yesterday.

I wouldn't buy any of this new maybe except the CPU/Mobo, so I should have some more money left over for another monitor and probably a jump up to the 1950x

I dunno, but after looking at that beast that blue put together for 4k, I wish I had that kinda of money for a PC. And fiber internet.

I just wish I had $1400 lying around for 1080 tis
But fiber would be amazing too. Thankfully 300/30 gets the job done for me pretty well

Thanks
Would want the 27" so that's another $400.
I want to see what else is suggested, I have the itch, but my issue is I wouldn't want to put it together.

shite I thought it was the 27"... The XB1 is $50 more, so I'll be $15 over my imaginary budget

I also wouldn't waste my money to upgrade to that.
I already have:
- H100i V2
- 8x4gb of ram
- 1tb M.2 drive
- Corsair rm1000
- Keyboard
- Mouse
And I wouldn't care enough to change my whole platform to move from my 5960x to threadripper.
I really just want SLI 1080ti and 27" 1440p G-Sync monitor

Is this for yourself? If so, waste money on meaning upgrades? If not i'll post my system specs =)
Just do the following IMO:
-SLi 2 x 1080 Ti
-NVMe Drives (1 Boot, 1 Game Library)
-2 x 4K Monitors of your choice
These are the only upgrades you really need from the 2016 build. Nothing else has really changed for gamers which COUNT.
