Understand.
I just OC to around 80hz and that seems to be fine. Would love a 120+ option which isn't $1K and glossy. Just have an issue where I need 2 of the same monitor. It would kill me having 1 different. But starting to lean away from that more and more.

Yeah I just use a 25" Acer 1080p second monitor. But I only use it for YouTube, Netflix, Twitch stream or something.

I've always had mismatched monitors. When I buy a new one, the current main one gets demoted to secondary, and secondary gets demoted to spare. I had a few spares for a while, but the flood took care of my electronics hoarding.

Snagged an oculus rift for $300 thanks to Prime Day. I am not into VR but I have some younger cousins and nephews that will enjoy it.

Mine does look like garbage, but I have been very happy with it.

Anyone on 4k with a 1080? How does it perform?
Posted on 7/12/17 at 2:42 pm to Dixie Normus
Well I'm back to the beginning with this build and I may hold off again - everything seems really expensive.

*edit* i'm using an Alienware 17 R3 laptop with the external graphics amplifier

TechPowerUp ripping Intel today
Great read.
Intel, what are you even doing anymore? That is some seriously sad shite.
TomsHardware The Skylake-X Mess Explored
Yikes, even custom loop systems are struggling to keep them cool at decent OC's. Initially it was just AiO's that couldn't provide enough cooling.

I see this posted all over but what will an AiO closed loop system do for cooling VRM? Answer is nothing. Using water cooling takes away some good benefits that air coolers offer, they move air across the motherboard and cools the components.
I'm sure Intel did testing. But damn what the hell.
My biggest grip besides the AiO thing is that articles keep bringing up OCs. The performance gain with Skylake-E comes from a larger shared L2 cache and a faster IMC.
Guess if they would have pulled clocks back it would have been a wash with HW/BW-E? So they decided to commit arson.

Sounds like an opportunity for wc companies to make more vrm blocks for various boards, not just the typical $300+ ASUS crap. Not that it is an acceptable solution. People who buy those chips expect to be able to OC, regardless of logic.

I sold my Fury X a few days ago for $400, couldn't pass it up they've risen thanks to mining a bit as well.
Now I have survive for at least a few weeks+ until Vega with this guy at 1440p because I can't find a 570/580.
