They did increase the clocks. We went from what, 4.3 to 4.5 Turbos.

That is some of the DR I was stating. Don't turbo so high if you will be pulling 250Ws. That is a little high. .

Not sure what is the cause, they probably just run hot, Intel has had that problem with Kaby Lake and their response was to stop OCing the 7700K.

Well I mean, they are right. Higher clocks.. higher voltages.. higher temps. IDK. Its on the consumer to buy proper cooling. 5GHz is retard speed.

Is there a such thing as a gaming laptop in the $800 range capable of running games like battlefield or the division?

Yes, quite a few can actually. Any of them with a 6th gen i5 or better and a 1050 or better can handle those games at 1080p and medium+ settings and achieve 60FPS.

If you can find one with a 1050ti or even a 1060 for around that price you'd really be set.

This is the best buy I could find for you right now

$820 after $100 MIR..i5-7300HQ, 4GB 1050ti, 256GB SSD.

What are most of you guys using for Case Fans nowadays? Noctua the go-to? Or is that only for CPU Coolers?

Don't give a shite personally

Nicer cases these days come with pretty above average fans these days anyway

I think this is the first ever time I've felt pretty satisfied with my builds and don't want to upgrade like..... Ever

Putting this custom loop in my main PC has really made me never want to upgrade ever again. Even though I want 1080s really bad, frick having to deal with that whole nonsense in my loop

Oh man, I stumbled down the rabbit hole of Zelda Link to the Past randomizer. Such a crazy spin on this classic. Watched a few games of a tournament on Twitch and now I'm hooked.

Is is harder correct?

I might hit this up this weekend. I'll hit you up on Steam for links, or post here.

Only have the PS4 with me while out of town and the SO will be playing Crash on it. But do have a laptop!

The Corsair SP120s are good for price/performance.

I use some crazy case fans which I think still cost $25-$30 each but honestly, once you get to about 1000-1200 they all sound the same.

When I think Gentle Typhoons I think DangerDen and BFG.

Soo much feelings and nostalgia.

It's different, sometimes a lot easier, sometimes a lot harder. Depends on what happens with the randomizer. The seed I am playing right now is a super troll seed, I got all the overworld fetch quests I can get and I still don't have enough items to fully clear a dungeon. That's rare, usually you can get enough to do at least one dungeon and then get items for another from the next. I'm having to half clear the easier dungeons to try to find items. You don't have to 100% everything though, just looking to get enough items to clear the necessary dungeons to enter Ganon's Tower and beat Ganon (Go Mode.) You don't have to get all the pendants unless you need items to enter go mode from those dungeons. Even the location of the pendants and crystals is randomized, so the required dungeons to complete changes each seed.

There is a google doc link I can post when I get home that has links to almost everything. You will need the Japanese rom in v1.0 for the randomizer. The randomizer is just a website that you upload the rom and it spits out another rom based on your selections from the website.

edit: Got the link off my phone

The evilash tracker is nice if you know what you are doing. The crossproduct and fouton tracker are much better for just starting out. Fouton I think does a better job of listing the fetch quests you can do based on what you have, but crossproducts has a lot more of what you need for requirements.

I have the opposite reaction, I don't want to build again EVER because this build has given me so many problems.

This is what i'm really excited about with the Ryzen Pro line. These are the features I speak to about why I stick with Intel. If im not selling old hardware it is usually getting used in another build. vPro is something used all the time by me, especially with my NAS. I don't always keep it but do cold boots. So its nice be able to boot up when shut down. Used to do Wake on LAN with my NIC, but it gives me loads of trouble. The thing would randomly wake.

The speeds and core counts are not the most important features of these chips however, it is the features they share with AMD's soon to arrive EPYC chips. AMD Secure Processor features, TPM 2.0 and DASH which offers features similar to Intel's vPro architecture.

Off topic question - I've been on the mouse market for a while and noticed the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum was on sale at amazon for $55.99 so I decided to pick it up. I've heard its a solid mouse.

I've used the Logitech line for a long time, I assume this mouse keeps the line going. Anyone have it and like it?

You can still get them. Nidec still makes them, but the minimum quantity is 10,000 units I think. A couple of resellers either went in together or separately met the minimum quantity. You can get them from Coolerguys on Amazon and elsewhere. Ordered a couple of them a few weeks ago.
