My dad calls today about my mom's new Toshiba ultrabook...

"How do I get word chums on here?" (Word chums is a words with friends type of app).

Me: "Is it available on the Windows App store?"

Dad: "I don't know, what's that?"

Me: "Let me check the store myself."

Dad: "I just googled it and it says page could not load."

Me: "Well it's not on the store anyway. I will need to put the Google Play Store on there next time she's in town."

Dad: "I just Googled how to put Google Play Store on Windows and it says page could not load."

Me: "Are you connected to the Internet?"

Dad: "I don't know."

"..."


I've had like 4 hours of sleep, so I'm just not equipped to figure out what's going on. They're coming January 8th, so I'll need to do whatever I can to idiot-proof this thing.

I had more patience this afternoon and called him back. Apparently the page error he was getting is a legit bug with Edge browser that I didn't feel like looking into. It took an hour, but I eventually talked him through the process of installing Chrome, setting it as the default browser, and installing Chrome Remote Desktop. But when I remoted in, his shitty rural internet was just too slow for me to do anything meaningful.

But he did manage to figure out Blue Stacks by himself. At this point, it's for his benefit anyway. My mom was ready to return it after 5 minutes. My dad's thinking of keeping it and buying her an iPad Air 2.

Will the movie have shitty follow missions?

Believe my DT 990 Pro headphones are busted. Hear crackling and nothing is crisp, just crispy sounding.

What is everyone using? I say these on theVerge which look interesting. Says they are only $399, paid almost that for these DT 990s 3-4yrs ago. Are these decent "cans"?

Welp, was cleaning my case and knocked my 2nd monitor over off my desk, shattering the screen.

What really sucks is that I reacted fast enough to catch it before it hit the ground, and I was like oh thank god, but the corner hit the case and it wasn't visible at first until I plugged it in.

New one on the way dammit.

At least it wasn't the freesync...

How do you stay sooo positive and helpful on the tech board? I get tired of answering tech related questions, especially IRL.

Should I just put an extra drop of solder?






Edt: Found what looks like pin holes in the cord. I'm guessing the GFs cat bit the cord a few times. Purchasing a new cord to see if that fixes the issue.

OK. I went back and now I am done with that fricking Tech Board for good.
