OK. I went back and now I am done with that fricking Tech Board for good.

I try not to butt into ILikeLSU's thread where he is helping some build a PC....

but this was a recommendation from someone...

Monitor with 1280x1020 resolution. Was that correct ILike? lol

Maybe they prefer FPS over clarity.

That guy also recommended a "low refresh rate," whatever low means...

It's tough to tolerate that aspect ratio nowadays.

Reason I never purchased a MacBook Air. Our old Chromebook as a 1280x800 resolution and can not take it, even at 12".

Edt: Todays mid-range and low mid-range cards really don't have too much difficulty running 1080. No reason to purchase a monitor that isn't 1080. It would almost be harder to find a monitor which isn't 1080.

I wouldn't mind more of that on the tech board. A lot of people who post there for build help are not regular posters, so they have no idea whom to trust. Makes dealing with the crappy advice a little difficult.

Got 2nd monitor in but screen stays black. I know I ran into this last time too but I tried resetting everything to 1080p 60Hz and still nothing.

PC detects display as it shows it in Crimson and device manager.

Same cables and ports from my old monitor.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Serious question, because I was having an issue in Windows 10 where after every reboot, my second monitor would refuse to display anything unless I pressed the power button to turn it off and then turn it back on again.

Yeah, a few times, and multiple system reboots changing settings.

Got it though.

For whatever reason this new monitor didn't like the Monoprice HDMI cable, plugged in a different one, lit right up. Oh technology.

And the Spock dumbass on the tech forum was so intent on putting me down that he didn't realize I was 100% correct in what I posted.

I've been doing a/v a long time. Moron shouldn't question me on it.

I can't stand Techies(sp?). Used to be and still sometimes am that guy, but it is fckking annoying. I've learned to not show people how knowledgeable I am in this "tech world" because

1) They ask for help
2) You sound pretentious(That isn't soo bad)
3) Some people are just know it alls and you will never win with them, even if you're right.

That Tech Board Spock sounds like a Number 3.

The thing is when it comes to a/v connectivity just rtfm. I did, he dismissed me and then he did and I was right. If I reply on a thread there I do a little research. I don't just rely on my knowledge. Every device is a little different.

For those with Android devices...

Same, for the most part. Technology is all about specifics, so it would be irresponsible not to take a few seconds and fact check when I'm already sitting in front of a computer.

That said, I stay out of A/V threads because I have very little direct experience. And the router/networking threads because they are boring.

This has been my main interest for the past 2yrs. Started when I hardwired all my rooms with ethernet. I find it fascinating to have layers in your home network.

Oh yeah, it can be an interesting subject/project. More interesting than the "recommend a router under 12 dollars" and "why come my wifi be slow?" threads on the tech board.

When I was young... dumb... and a Apple fanboy. Damn 2009 and iPhone hype.

What was I thinking?
