So, what have you tried so far? Run through all the basics first and then we go from there.

I didn't have time to do much with it last night as I was too overcome with disappointment to troubleshoot

So I have a friend who is building a PC for the first time and he is thinking of getting his hands on a free windows 7 loader. I am desperately trying to talk him out of this horrible criminal act. Does anyone have any examples of what could go wrong when one takes this evil path? I need some ammo to talk him into walking the line. TIA

Tell him don't pirate Windows 7. Pirate Windows 8.1 instead.

There are two cards which are of particular interest, firstly a card with 4096 stream processors at 1000MHz with 4GB of VRAM. This card is thought to be the R9 390X. The Second GPU has 3520 stream processors at 1050MHz and is thought to be the R9 390. Links to these results are here and here.

Guess the 380X flagship rumor was false.

GCN 1.3; 4096 GPU Cores; 4GB 4092-bit HBM

frickin' A... But why don't the flagships have 6GB minimum yet? With that bandwidth, if one of the AIB companies makes an 8GB version, I may consider it if it's not at an extortionate price.

I figured that would be the case.

Now we just need pricing, I may grab a 390 instead of a 390X, just have to wait and see.

Looks like the 380/X won't be using HBM, rumor was that it would along with the 390 series.

That rumor had apparently accompanied the rumor that the 380 would be the flagship, though. This always happens. Inaccurate initial specs, model numbering, fake benchmarks, etc. But the final result is never too far off. The 390 will rape everything as it is, so probably not necessary for a 390x unless there arises an 8GB version.

Back in 2013, AMD's 290X nearly matched the 780 Ti in performance but undercut the price by $150, so it would be great to see something similar happen. I won't jump back to AMD until they have higher vram cards now, though. And I'll have to be sure crossfire doesn't suck as bad as it did on Hawaii.

390X is supposed to compete with the Titan2/980ti later this year right? And then the 390 will likely be a bit more powerful than the 980 and a bit cheaper as well.

At this point, looks like I'll be grabbing a 390 and selling my 290. May grab a 390X, just depends on pricing.

Remember when this happened with Intel? Well, it's still happening, but several years ago one of Newegg's suppliers got duped, or they duped Newegg, into buyng a shite load of them.

Looked fairly legit on the outside (box), but closer inspection:

typos on the box:

And then the "CPU"

and my favorite part, the "cooler"

Lmao at that cooler.

250GB Samsung 850 Evo on sale from 149 for 104 on Newegg, seems like a great deal may grab one.

Welp. Power Supply passed the tests so it's either the board or the processor
