Overwatch League Coming to ESPN & ABC

The multi-year broadcast deal includes the Overwatch League playoffs --which begin Wednesday night -- the Season 1 grand finals from the Barclays Center in New York next month and Overwatch League Season 2 next year. In all, professional Overwatch will be broadcast in some fashion on the flagship ESPN network, ESPN2, Disney XD, ABC and streaming services for the term of the agreement.

Overwatch is quite possibly the WORST game they could’ve done it for. The meta is so broken right now with Bridget and Moira.

Maybe not a huge competitive league thing but as some one offs on a random Friday night. You have to be kidding yourself if you don't think people wouldn't watch 2 or 3 games of the top 100 fortnite players playing all at once.

Biggest problem with recent BRs is that people get attached to streamers more so than the game itself.
People want to watch ninja play fortnite, not watch fortnite with ninja in a tournament
It would get some good viewer counts, but there's no place in competitive play for RNG heavy games like BRs

I still watch Starcraft when it's live, but it's getting old. Overwatch I have no interest in watching.

I watched a bit of a PUBG tournament not that long ago. It was actually pretty cool. It was 16 team of 4. They played 7 rounds with a points system for placements and kills.
Seeing how teams held chokepoints and such was more fascinating than I would have thought. Not sure if would translate for Fortnite, though I like Fortnite.

I still think Forntite needs a competitive mode like csgos bomb mode and let them set up their classes with any 5 things before the match. Could be different maps like salty map, a pleasant map, etc.

No really even a close comparison but alright.
People watch ninja to interact with him and to be entertained.
There's none of that on the pro scene at LANs since there's no individual stream setup. Maybe that could be something fortnite looks in to

Ninja hardly interacts with his stream anymore. Too many people. Friday fortnite regularly gets 250k for ninja and 70k for people like nickmercs (console). They can't interact at all because they are on a 2 minute delay during their tournaments.
