Tracked and killed a moose as it was swimming across a lake. I swam after it to retrieve it. It sank before I could reach it then I drowned. Wasn't even mad.

So I complete a mission and am raiding the camp for loot when suddenly my horse walks up behind me and stands over the campfire. Burns alive before I can move her. Also happened to be the one time my wife was watching me play, and she was like “what a stupid fricking game.”

Just found the Blackjack game at the saloon in Rhodes. If you're bored, it's any easy way to rack up $20-$30 playing. Also got the legendary bear, coyote and fox pelts last night.

Seriously contemplating doing nothing but hunting legendary animals and making clothes and trinkets for the next 5-6 hours of gameplay.

I got the white arabian first try, it wasn't too bad. Definitely calm him an extra couple times before mounting. Make sure you do the stick forwards and backwards depending on if he is moving forward or backwards as well as side to side.

played for 2 hours last night and did absolutely nothing

I really don't like the wanted system.

If I kill someone out of sight of anyone, and have no witnesses, its stupid to get a bounty on me. keeps happening with random folks camping.

Any of y’all been treasure hunting for the Jack Hall Gang stashed treasure? Happened to come upon an explorer with the first in a series of maps to the treasure. Then I scared him into handing it over and started searching. I’m on map #2 now

That's odd. You shouldn't be getting a bounty if there isn't any witness to report the crime I thought, or if there is just enough of it in a decently public area it just goes over the top. I've definitely killed someone in the middle of nowhere and not increased my bounty.

Yea I found the first one. Haven't gone any further. Is there anything on the map to give you a clue as to the general location of the area? I just luckily found the first one doing a mission and it was in the background of a cut scene.

That is one thing I don't get. When I killed my first person in the open and that thing popped up saying you have to dispose of the body or you might get pursued, and I was thinking "Is Sherlock Holmes out here in the wild west all of a sudden?"

Thinking this may help someone. Put a quick list together of stuff that might not be that obvious at first. Some of this has been discussed in this thread.

Tips and tricks for RDR2
1. Hold start to get to map quickly
2. Set waypoint then hold pad to do cinematic view and automatic type travel. Can hit x to gallop horse in cinematic view. Bandits and bounty hunters can still kill you in this mode.
3. Toggle auto run in control settings to not have to punch x to run
4. Rob people’s horses by standing next to them and searching saddlebags. Horse might kick you so calm first.
5. Manual save your game
6. Most stuff is unlocked as game progress, so progress the game some if something you want is unlocked.
7. Side quests provide rewards for collectables.
8. Using a bandana during a crime, then taking it off after you’re out of search area makes wanted meter drop faster
9. Killing rival gangs after you’ve antagonized them makes killing them dishonorable and takes away from honor. But killing them and not antagonizing them is ok.
10. Kill cam angle is somehow base on honor.
11. Fast travel map is unlocked by upgrading Dutch’s tent first, then Arthurs in camp.
12. Study an animal before killing it. Not all animals give perfect pelts. 3 stars is perfect pelt. Studying animal also tells you what gun to use to obtain perfect pelt.
13. Strange phrases in the world are cheat codes. Put them in in settings menu.
14. Smoke a lot of cigarettes and cigars to keep that dead eye core up. Drink alcohol for dead eye too.
15. Pay off bounties at post office.
16. Hats and clothes are stored on horse. Change according to weather
17. Buy leather working tools to get upgrades made in camp by Pearson.
18. Store perfect pelts with Pearson at camp for later crafting.
19. When aiming press up on d pad to aim up and shoot in air. Good for calming or aggravating intense situations.
20. Can split point ammo at campfire. This allows you to carry more ammo.
21. People won’t talk to you with bandana on.
22. Time your button push with the gallop button to save stamina.
23. Need to gain honor. Greeting people on the street, being nice, and releasing fish you caught all give + honor.

I don't know if the game says it but I like pressing the left d-pad button to bring up the challenges and stuff.

Also found 3 gold bars in a cave with statues in it. You had to press the buttons in a certain order. Older brother told me about it and it was a huge relief to basically buy every upgrade at the camp.

shite like this is why I hate this game

Got on last night with the intention of moving forward in the story. Instead, saw this and set out to go way out of my way to go deal with him. Since I was heading in that direction, figured I might as well take out Granger. Did that, kept riding when I came across the lady needing a ride back to Emerald Ranch, and being the somewhat honorable cowboy I am in the game, went out of my way to do that. Rode all the way back to kill Midnight, did that to get that sweet pistol and then spent 30 minutes playing blackjack getting five double-down wins.

Two hours, zero main story progress

Pretty sure if you kill someone even with no witnesses and don’t throw the body in a bush or something, the police will “investigate” the area and eventually narrow it down to you. How they do that with no fingerprints, dna, or ballistic tests I have no idea, but that’s how it’s worked for me. Basically, if you kill someone, don’t leave them on a road or in a town.

It’s still better than RDR1 and GTAV where you could kill someone in the most remote area of the game and still get a wanted status. They’ve definitely improved that particular system

I've been dueling Flacco's and Granger's revolvers. They are sweet.

Buy them through the ledger at your main camp.
