Always like a good Leona game to make me feel a little better about my abilities on League 
also.. our poor lux mid-lane, probably thought we were going to lose the game for awhile there

As a main on ADC, if I'm playing someone who requires IE first, I always try to get at least 1600g before backing for BF and pots. If I'm losing early and I have to back early, I'll go pickax and boots for mobility.
Some ADCs like Kog Corki and others require trinity force being built first. In this case I shoot for about 1400g to build a phage and pots first back.

Vamp scepter can also help if you're in a struggle to win exchanges and getting denied farm as a result.
Usually I try to have enough for a BF and a pot, but if you can force their lane to back when you're close to 1550 then I'll free farm for BF and boots.

yeah, it's like I understand the path I'm suppose to take, but there are so many "lesser" items you can get early to help yourself early... but could potentially hurt me in mid-game.
So I need to be shooting for BF first as long as I'm doing ok? Also, every time I play adc with you in my group I feel like I'm under a microscope... and I kinda like it

Adc's usually always shoot for the bf to ie first. it all depends on the situation, but I would not buy boots until I have at least one complete item. Those tier one boots aren't gonna keep you alive when being ganked by a enemy jg. Use the gold to get to your ie sooner.
Like I said its situational tho, there was a time I rushed static shiv and berserkers on jinx and it worked well for me.

it's all in good fun. Really though we just try and help you out to become a better player. We all need help including myself.
One of the main things I would stress to you is last hitting minions. That is your main money source and when you have money you have items.

yeah, when I'm ADC the biggest thing I'm doing is trying to learn CS'ing, I actually lost a game a few days ago because I didn't care what was going on with the rest of the team (they kept feeding) and just stayed focused on CS'ing
Last night I learned though... I need to find ADC's more similar to sivir - because if I pick someone like Ashe or Jinx who do more base damage - I can't time the CS as well. (at least for now as I'm learning)

If you want to practice last hitting, create a custom game with just you. There will be no distractions and you can practice with different champs.

I'm also a little nervous to put too much work into learning something like that when I have so few masteries and runes at this point, and my characters will be doing so much different damage by the time I'm level 30...
I do plan on doing a lot of custom games once I get to 30 though. Probably with a few of you guys coming in and ganking me to get use to that as well.

This is the best way to learn cs'ing.
If you can do it without runes (and even a first item), you can cs with runes and a first item.
