I'm currenty sitting at 4-4 in my placement matches.
2 losses were steamrolls that were not my fault.
The other two were games our team could have won, but I didn't play good enough.
I can probably salvage a 6-4 record, but I doubt that's good enough to get out of Bronze.
Funny thing though... I can tell that some of these people I'm playing with/against have NOOOOO clue what is going on..... especially the junglers.
But I've been going ADC the last several games in an attempt to prevent the games from getting out of hand.
When I check LoLNexus... I'm usually the person with the most wins on my team... and the other team looks to be stacked with 400-1000+ wins.
How is that fair matchmaking?

Riot's matchmaking is never fair. I am Silver V, got paired with a couple bronze and non ranked players on my team. Meanwhile the other team had a plat, a gold and 3 silvers.

They probably weren't but I think immediately blaming yourself for any and every loss, will help you get better. That's the attitude I'm starting to employ.
It helps me ignore my teammates flaws and focus on my own. Yes, I may have carried 90% of the team's weight, but in the end there is always something I can do to be better. That's just something that drives me though. To each their own.
ETA: I think I may stop joining other teambuilders and just do my own every time. I can't get anyone who will run a tank. Makes it very difficult to actually practice anything when you have zero peel and all squishies.

They make it impossible to get out of bronze and it has nothing to do with your skill.
How a company that makes as much money as them can't fix their system is beyond me. If someone goes afk during a game they should be suspended for a week from the game, second time, a month, etc. But then they'd lose money and players, etc. Just punish the stupid kids that troll and leave games heavily and it will stop.
Lose 2nd game because noob voli admits he's a noob, doesn't ban jax, then feeds jax 5 kills by the 15 minute mark. My bot lane goes 8-1 and takes bottom tower in under 10 minutes, doesn't matter. Fed jax game over. Oh and a jinx mid that had no clue how to play also.

So many people play the game that the people they ban/suspend arent even noticed. I do think they should add the Dota2 thing in where it notifies you if somebody you reported is punished though.

It really is frustrating playing with trolls. It's one thing to lose because your team is just bad, I can live with that.
But people who join the queue, then 2 minutes in message everyone and say "Aight guys, gotta go pick up my cousin from swim practice. Be back in 20."...they just need to get into a bad car accident.

Bronze is not hard to get out of if you aren't at a bronze skill level.
On the other hand, it's hard to beat a superfed Bot/Mid lane..... even if they are bronze.
Don't you just need to win ~6 of 7 games to get out of bronze 5?

I disagree, it has nothing to do with you when people troll or go afk which is about literally 65% of the game.
I blame the game/Riot for allowing it, stiffer penalties would prevent most of it.
I don't play enough to sit there and deal with trolls for half the game. People in your lobby that are literally named "Troll City Troll20" like I had in my 2nd game of series, that fed 10 kills on purpose by the 10 minute mark and then left the game after laughing over and over in the chat.

I'm probably more unlucky with trolls.
