I found the rocket launcher and the flamethrower running around form her acid and they def helped. I figured out if I just hid in the castle walls she couldnt get in to melee me and I threw grenades and shot that rocket launched at her after taking psycho pills then ducking behind the walls and let the other minutemen hit her and repeat.

Only used Codsworth, Dogmeat, Preston and the chick. Codsworth kicks arse.

as said they cost around 550 extremely expensive.
Some venders have them some don't. Once you get into the brother missions a good ways they have their own vender there with tons of ammo/armor/guns that's usually where I deal around and barter.
other than that you can increase your lock picking skills and hacking skills so your able to unlock and grab them out of random generators to use iv found quite a few that way and just randomly searching and doing side missions.
edit: something else some of you should try go to options change the HUD and pip boy to white by far righting the RGB settings. IMO alot easier to read and the flash light should change white as well so its brighter.

Changed mine to a very light blue and it's way better than the stock pure green

And sometimes when just wandering the waste b/c I like the look. But never when there is any action.

I wanted to do it while wondering around but the FOV is pretty bad and the character took up way too much of the screen

Not sure about on PC, but X1 lets you zoom in/out on the 3rd person view. I have it zoomed all the way out and can see entirely around the character. You could easily see something sneaking up on you from behind.
