I've used dogmeat, codsworth, nick valentine and preston garvey a companions so far.
Valentine was great in battle and could hack computers, but, I accidentally shot him in the head and he started returning fire so I ran off.
Using Preston now and he is pretty good at combat. He keeps stopping me to tell me how good of a job I'm doing and in the last 4 choice speech option "flirt" was an option in orange. Has me a little worried.

For a robot Cogsworth gets lost a lot.

I didn't play New Vegas and I never used companions in Skyrim. I knew Cogsworth could carry inventory but I guess I just assumed the dog couldn't because...he's a dog. Video game logic doe.

I heard that jetpack sucks down AP and fusion core FAST. Makes me wonder if there is a supply of cores you can buy from a vendor somewhere or fill up the ones you already have because power armor would be useless once all the existing cores are used up.

I've bought several from the gun vendor and the junk lady+robot in diamond city. They sell them with the ammo.
Believe I'm up to 53 fusion cores last time I checked.

I have 9 cores and have never used one. Only used the power armor the one time they made me. I don't want to sell them but I don't know if I will ever use them. Level 16 I think and I have never really needed the power armor. I sneak and use grenades / pistols the most

Are you thinking of fusion cells instead? They are used for laser rifles and whatnot. I'm talking about the cores used to power the suit.

I havent used the power armor except that as well but I used it last night to take down that Mirelurk Queen at the MM Castle at level 9 (she was wrecking me)

Level 9? yeah I think I was lvl 12. Used the rocket launcher they provided from inside the castle and my explosive 10mm pistol to finish the job. Used about 8-9 stims and a lot of cooked food to do it however

I'm pretty certain I'm talking about fusion cores.
I didn't realize that's what I was buying at first because I was buying them so fast. But I saw I had several fusion cores and wondered how I got them. The only way I could have got them is from those two vendors because that's where I've bought 95% of my stuff doing the infinite bottlecaps glitch.

Unless you're game is glitched you cannot buy fusion cores anywhere. Fusion cells, however..
