Bought it when it first came out and it was incredibly boring.

I've tried multiple times over the years to jump back in after a few updates but the opening is so slow that I get turned off

But damn if this doesn't look awesome

I love this games story. Not the in game story but it’s terrible launch to the amazing experience it is now with constant free updates.

Worth getting imo.

Damnit. I'm reinstalling now. Apparently I haven't played it since 2021!

I usually start losing interest around 30-40 hours into each playthrough....but I'll be damned if that initial 40 hours doesn't hit for me like crack

I was proud to have earned hyperspace travel ability back when the game first came out. I don't know that I'd recognize it in 2025.

That said, I own it on the Switch 2 and will play it at some point.

It's the same for me. Every year and a half or so I'll jump back in and say "I'm starting over and this time I'm going to actually beat the story."

Nope, it never happens. But, damn if that 30ish hours I put into it aren't amazing every time.

I didn't - but I bought when my PC couldn't really do it justice. It is a vibe a "hang out" game, even if you play single player. Astroneer was a little easier to get into the gameplay loop (and incredibly similar in the early going), but obviously that is a different art style and you tend to stay grounded.

Now that my PC can handle it, I may jump back in. I didn't like the early base-building - it wasn't intuitive, undoing mistakes was iffy, etc.

At the end of the day, it is one of the best looking games of the genre.

the game seems great now. they really should have waited another 2 years or so to develop further. but im glad they're still making content and improving this game.

This is the greatest redemption arc in video game history as far as I’m concerned

I bought early access. Hated it when it dropped. Now it is unquestionably the best gaming dollars I have ever spent in terms of ROI

I avoided it for good reason when it was released. Just have always had something else I wanted to play more ever since.

Probably. I’m also partially through playthroughs of Elden Ring, Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, and Hollow Knight with a backlog of dozens of “some of the best games ever made” never having been touched. I can only play so much, mate
