They better not have nerfed Bo on Tecmo Bowl.

It'll be weird playing it if they offer a wireless controller

I still have, and play, my NES. But this collection of games, along with the ease of use in an all-in-one is too good to not get. Not to mention having a HDMI out.

Is anything featuring old games a money grab here?
Supply and demand. I'm not going to criticize a company for making business decisions unless they negatively impact some of their fanbase.

Posted this on the tech board thread, but you can make something better for same price

Raspberry Pi 3 with Power Supply and Case - $50
USB NES Controller - $6
8GB MicroSD Card - $2
MicroSD Card Reader - $1
Retropie or Recalbox - Free
= $59

I expect this to be one of the top selling items this Christmas season.

Wrong Tecmo Bowl. The one with this is the original Tecmo Bowl.
Bo was in "Super Tecmo Bow" I wonder why they picked the first one instead.

Yeah the one where you couldn't kick an extra point against the Giants(I think).

Are all of these available on virtual console?
Posted on 7/14/16 at 3:55 pm to Mr Gardoki
I saw a tweet saying at least some of them weren't.

And how much will it cost you to make it actually look like an NES, which is what this thing is really all about? The nostalgia of it.

Not to mention the time it takes to set it up. It's similar to the PC vs console debate.

I've never understood why they don't start making the old systems. They'd be virtually free to make these days and with this gen being the first one who grew up with video games, they'd sell like cakes for a few months.

quote:This. You can get the Retropie distro running on a Raspberry Pi with a few roms in about 30 minutes but if you want it to look almost like a professional product, it will take you much longer. I spent a few weeks in my spare time scrapping meta data and making manual fixes to XML files so mine would resemble something like "Netflix for retro games." After that, I spent more time making other small tweaks like picking a good graphics filter so the games didn't look like garbage on my big LCD TV.

There have been more changes since this, but here's a video I made nearly a year ago to show to a friend. LINK (3:24)
I've setup 2 more of these for friends since making my own. If I didn't have this, the NES mini would be very tempting.

A 30 game NES library vs. the entire NES and SNES libraries plus Mario Kart and a few other N64 titles...2 controller ports vs 4 controller ports...yeah, I'm good with it looking like a Raspberry Pi instead of a tiny NES.
