A 30 game NES library vs. the entire NES and SNES libraries plus Mario Kart and a few other N64 titles...2 controller ports vs 4 controller ports...yeah, I'm good with it looking like a Raspberry Pi instead of a tiny NES.

No love for Secret of Mana yet? Blasphemy!
...oops, didn't see page 2. But still, Secret of mana!
Also, there are a few game sites that list their top 100/50/25/etc SNES games of all time. I used it when building my emulator library.

Star Citizen?

Is anybody playing in the Star Citizen Alpha, or keeping an eye on it for release? It looks like it has some real potential.
Did you ever get it working? I don't use DOSBox for it, I use ScummVM for all the KQ and old LucasArts point and click games. But I'm also running it on my Raspberry Pi emulator box and not my desktop. I think ScummVM works on both, though.
Star Wars: Battlefront looks like it should be ahead of God of War...it's listed twice depending on if they included the semicolon or not.
You can avoid the safety locks at Bass Pro if you're just bringing a pistol and you wear your gun in a holster.

While we're being snarky, sir, you need to learn to read. The provisions in C4 and C5 are different. That's why they're in entirely different provisions: 4 and 5. One doesn't affect the other.
C4 states that it is legal to carry a gun within 1000 feet of a school if it is entirely within private property or a private residence, or otherwise in accordance with having a concealed carry permit, which allows us to carry right up to the border of the campus.
C5 states that it is legal to carry the gun in the car as long as you are constitutionally allowed to do so.

re: Anyone own a Vizsla here? New Owner questions

We have a Boxer/Vizsla mix and he does the boredom barking as well as boredom diging if he doesn't get enough exercise. And I mean grand canyon style digging brother.
I'd prefer police be able to immediately pull a guy off the street for carrying concealed without a permit.
And it also requires that people who are going to legally carry concealed have to at least sit through training on the legal aspects. I can't tell you how many misconceptions about what is necessary for a legal self-defense shooting I've cleared up for people who were sure that they already knew the law. Hell, I've even heard the "shoot them on the porch and drag them in" thing a few times, and I thought everybody KNEW that was a bad joke.
As far as an 8 hour class being a waste of time...8 hours is not a lot of time, but it's 8 more than 0 hours. Considering that the subject of the 8 hour class is life or death, and freedom vs prison time, maybe 8 paltry hours isn't that big a deal?

re: Concealed carry guys, how do you carry?
Posted by NewtonD on 1/15/16 at 12:16 pm to Jack Daniel
It depends on clothing for me. I mix it up between IWB, OWB (rarely) at 7 or 8:00 because I'm a lefty, and a shoulder holster. I have to keep in practice on a good clear and draw for all three.
Yeah I'm in there but not very active lately, I'm SO.

Eh, no skin off our backs. Just don't get it from someone who says they can do it in an afternoon, or over dinner, or any BS like that. I had a few friends tell me they had that offered and it scares the sh!t out of me. When I started to explain the legalities they had to know, and how much they "knew" that was wrong, they were lucky enough to be swayed from that awful path.

But one thing for you to understand - the shooting portion isn't necessarily testing your skill level. You should be able to hit the silhouette every time. The main thing it that is being tested is your shooting form and your firearm safety.
The safety aspect is always priority one (I am an instructor as well), but I still feel that the marksmanship is important. Otherwise why even bother requiring it?
Also, I've found that new shooters transitioning from never shooting a gun to shooting a .22 don't even blink. The thing I want them to get past is the dread or apprehension of a controlled explosion in their hand. The .22 just doesn't provide that.

Despite that French name, I like where your head is at.

I kind of wish the state would stop allowing this unless the shooter has a medical condition that necessitates the need for something weaker than a service caliber. You might as well not take the shooting exam; I could probably get my dogs to shoot inside a B27 silhouette with a .22 at the test distances.

What is the point of an AR pistol in the first place?
Because 'murica.
I'm one of the ones who believes in personal responsibility for self-defense. That's not a gun for everyone, just some type of force multiplier, some practice with the force multiplier you choose, and situational awareness. Hell, it might not even be a force multiplier. Maybe you just practice running fast from cover to cover. Fair enough, the important thing is to get home to your family. Or your apartment full of cats.
I carry and train and I've been accused of paranoia and "living in fear" and all that...whatever. It's not paranoia to understand that horrible things happen, and that they can happen to you, regardless of the odds.

Thanks everybody. Stout, how long has it been since you picked up those Champions at TSC and began using them that way?
Haven't picked up a window unit yet, that will be part of the package. I'm considering a Frigidaire FFRA0511R1 (5000 BTU 115V), not sure of power draw besides that it's a 115V unit. We just want to be able to cool one bedroom that we'll all sleep in during outages.
I'm hoping not to go over 600 with everything.

Generator recommendations?
Posted by NewtonD on 7/6/15 at 9:45 pm
I'm trying to put together an inexpensive rig to run a window AC unit, our fridge, a few lights, and our phone chargers. I've never used a generator before and have no idea what to look for. I need to keep the budget low on this so I don't have to sell any guns :D
