Need the Gaming Board's Help: Streaming PC to Xbox

So although it's nice to watch movies I "purchase online" on a 27" Samsung LCD Monitor. It would be even better to watch them on my 46" LCD TV in the living room.
So I spent a few minutes last night setting up Windows 7 Media Center, added the Xbox Extender, set it up on my xbox, and moved around some movies I "purchased online". Starting streaming a 720p movie......and it's laggy as shite.
Which is weird considering I can stream Netflix, Hulu, and HBOGO from my xbox with no issues. But magically can't stream in HD within my own network?
The frick? Checked my bandwidth. 18MB d/l, 4MB u/l, 20ms ping. Hmmmm.....
Not sure where to go with this? Any ideas?
Other variables that could come in to play:
- My router is an AT&T U-Verse router. I got the latest one they have, but haven't had the time to drop my xbox into DMZ and my PC on a static IP.
- I've got a wireless and a wired connection to my PC. I tried singling them out one at a time. No difference.
Am I just a PC Master Race failure? Am I doomed forever to only stream what Xbox Live offers?

I've had major problems streaming things from my PC to 360. What file type are you trying to stream? There is a small list of what is compatible and you may not have the right file type.

The 360 has a lot of issues with m4a and mp4, pretty much renders some of the stuff I have on iTunes useless.

i'll have to re-grease them this afternoon.

Why not just hook your pc up to your tv directly? I do but then again they're right next to each other so its easier.

because i have a desk for my pc.
my setup before this current PC, was having my PC in the entertainment center. But I wanted to use a PC like a PC. So got the 27" monitor.

I can stream mine to my Xbox no problems. Not sure why KK is having problems.
KK, if you were a pirate that lived by a bay you could obtain some software called Play On that might help.

The only times I have issues are when the file is not up to par. Glad to hear the XBOX streams well. The 720 is still very much on my radar.

look in to plex media server...install on your PC and copy files over to the plex shared folder etc...access the media server from your xbox. I've never actually done it on the xbox, but I have done it on my roku box.
