Picked up an Xbox Series X from Wal-Mart with Diablo 4 for $349. Any must have games? Any genre will do.

Get Game Pass.

If we're talking exclusives, I'd say:

Starfield - space game by Bethesda, RPG similar to Fallout or Elder Scrolls; should be this year's game of the year and I wouldn't trust the opinion of anyone who tells you otherwise
Hi-Fi Rush - cross between rhythm game and hack & slash; really unique experience that is hard to explain
Microsoft Flight Simulator if you're into that sort of thing
Ori and the Blind Forest and the sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps - both are fantastic platformers
Pentiment - narrative RPG murder mystery game from Obsidian
Forza Horizon 5 - Horizon is an "open world" sim racing series; 5 is considered one of the best racing games available (not just on XBox) and I actually find it to be entertaining even thought I don't usually like racing games
Forza Motorsport - more traditional racing game, not for me but if you're into racing games it's supposed to be good

All of these games, and much much more, are on Game Pass.

Pretty much this. Plenty to play there at start.

Not new, but if you haven’t played it already, Mass Effect Legendary Edition. All three games and all DLC of one of the greatest gaming experiences one can have, in my opinion.

Elden ring

Love starfield, the crashing gets a bit annoying, but other than that, I am not sure why the negative reviews all over YouTube.

I have a buddy who still has Skyrim as his favorite game of all time. He started up Starfield on PC and played for a couple of weeks before putting it on the shelf.

Lies of P
Starfield

Both are free on GamePass. Starfield didn’t hold me enough for NG+, but it has a couple of really amazing missions. Lies of P is just a damn good game. Dead Space remastered if free too.

I’m holding out for BG3 on Series X. I have so much on my PS5, I’m just torturing myself waiting. I was hoping it’d be out this week.

If you haven’t played Elden Ring, definitely play that.

Starfield is really fun. I like the basic open ended, space adventure with 1st person, ship building and outpost building. But, it crashes way to much on Xbox.

In a 3 hour playthrough it will crash at least two or three times. Its buggy and a resource hog. It uses so much CPU that sometimes my Xbox S will lose connection to my bluetooth controller. It has warts but will improve over time if they keep patching it.

I do not think it is game of the year material because of the bugs, but I think people are overstating how bad the game is for Youtube clicks. There is so much in this game, you can play for days without even touching the main storyline.

context question: what system do you currently have? reason i ask is, if you haven’t played a modern console at all there are some older games like GTA V and RDR2 that are incredible

I've had an Xbox One S for awhile now playing FPS games for the most part, but wanted to upgrade before new college football game comes out because it will only be on next gen consoles. Trying to "broaden my horizons" by playing other games before then.

Get Gamepass and you're set with all the games you can play for the next few months.

Starfield died not even a month after release. Just not enough interesting or innovative content to sustain the game for very long. Can't see it being GOTY considering it's largely been a flop

What is a GamePass? My 10 year old got a Series X last year. We have NBA, Golf, Forza, Forrnite, RubberBandits and RocketLeague.

I'm 43 and would like some cool shooter games. Looked into the Sniper Ghost and Suicide Squad game but was looking for something like that.

its a subscription based service. i dont know off the top of my head the monthly price, i think around 15 dollars. it gives you unlimited access to a large number of titles that you can download. it has a lot of quality titles, and some mediocre to garbage stuff. its a great value though. you usually wont get the newest and hottest games on there right away, but sometimes they do.

Thank you for your reply. Is it free to download the games after subscribing? Or do you have to pay for each download? Sorry, never done it before.
