I have approximately 40 hours of international flights next week. Since I have immense difficulty reading or sleeping on planes (too anxious), I intend to pass much of the time on my Switch Lite. Currently, the only unfinished games I have are Breath of the Wild and the first RE. I suppose Breath of the Wild itself could consume the entire duration, and maybe that will be my focus, but I have found it less mesmerizing than other posters. Are there any other really absorbing or addictive games you would recommend for play on the plane? Thanks.

Just Skyrim.

For all 40 hours.

Doom Eternal
Wolfenstein the New Colossus and Youngblood

Monster hunter generations ultimate.

If it were a couple months in the future you would have a real gem of a game in monster hunter rise

Animal crossing can be addictive as hell if you are into those sort of games.

Thanks everyone for the great recommendations thus far. I appreciate it.

How hard is to learn and play the RPG games mentioned in this thread (Skyrim, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Witcher, Octopath)? I won't have much patience for a game with a steep learning curve on a plane. Any info would be appreciated.

What about Hollow Knight? Is that a fun, absorbing game?

Other suggestions welcome.

Octopath wasn’t too hard for me to pick up, but I could maybe see it taking some time to pick up if you aren’t used to Turn-based combat and classic RPG’s.

Hollow Knight should be able to take up most of that time. It's only $15 and includes all DLC. I think my first playthrough took >40 hours and that didn't include any time trying to beat any of the Pantheons.

Great soundtrack, atmosphere, fun, challenging, etc. One of the best Metroidvanias.

Pokemon Sword/Shield is very straightforward. The Mario Rabbids game is kind of like XCOM (turn based tactics/puzzle strategy). With Witcher 3, they assume you have an understanding of the mechanics from previous games (and there's some NSFW content which might not be great on a plane in hindsight).

Learning curves in these games are typically not control oriented, but systems oriented. RPGs are typically simple to play, but you have to think about the systems pretty in depth.

Xenoblade 1 and Fire Emblem have a lot of things going on, but they are easy to pick up and play and get absorbed in.

XC2 is probably a slight step up with a few more systems to learn.

Hollow knight has a very peaceful setting and music. The looks is very clean. It is a nice game. One thing about it is you can attack from farther away than you think you can so don't feel like you need to be right on something to hit it.

Kind of depends on what charms you are using, but the charm system in this game is outstanding. Can really use a load out that best suits how you want to play.

And if you play Hollow Knight now, you'll be ready to play the sequel (Hollow Knight: Silksong) when it gets released (sometime this year).
