This is page 6. Spoilers are fine from this point forward.

ETA: As of 9/17 at 11 pm Central there are no spoilers.

Really enjoyed story mode overall and I like that the tower endings seem to mostly tie in directly with the story. They all feel like canon endings.

I feel like they did a good job of differentiating the story this time. It's not just a complete regurgitation of the previous games like the 2019 reboot was.

After finishing a "very easy" tower with each character, playing through the tutorial invasion level, and playing the story on "medium," I am about halfway through level 21. Need to hit level 25 for the final kameo fighter unlock.

I get that you warned folks, but no one else has the game yet. You’ve essentially guaranteed that no one else can have an ongoing discussion of the game in this thread without fear of spoilers. Let’s say I get the game when it comes out for everyone. I can certainly read the first 5 pages of you talking to yourself but I won’t be able to discuss with others because you’ll be in this thread from page 6 on spoiling the shite out of the story.

There haven't been any huge story spoilers posted yet (I'll remove the one spoiler I posted). I think you're going to be ok. The story mode isn't super long though so it doesn't seem right to prevent people from discussing it. Clearly, at least a few people other than me have already gotten the game.

If you get the game on Tuesday night, and only played at night, you could finish the story before the weekend.

ETA: Honestly, if you're this worried about Mortal Kombat spoilers I don't understand why you wouldn't have gotten the premium edition so you could get the early release.

Didn’t you say you only got this game because you had a GameStop card? Some people like to wait before they drop $$$ on video games in 2023.

Yes. Doesn't change the fact that the game is out now. You can't expect people not to talk about the story of an already released game. If I didn't have the game I wouldn't be expecting a thread about it to have no spoilers after release day. That doesn't really make sense.

You should probably pump the brakes and give everyone an opportunity to play before you start loading the thread down with spoilers.

I don't think a mortal kombat thread is going to get much engagement regardless, but if you want this thread to be anything more than your stream of consciousness about your experiences, maybe give everyone else an opportunity to catch up.

There are no spoilers itt. Just people complaining about spoilers. I'm just not going to be telling people they can't be talking about the story of an already-released game.

Literally the only thing I have heard about the game, is that all the females look like ugly butch lesbians

No idea if that is true, just the only thing I have heard so far.

Tanya 100% does. Some of the females look like NRS was intentionally trying to make them unattractive. The "monster" chicks don't look like that though, ironically.

Nitara is easily the best design out of the females. I feel like that has to be because she's modeled after Megan Fox and Megan Fox voices the character.

Pretty disappointed that they only give you 1 load out for the characters. Probably the one glaring weakness in the game for me so far. The Kameo part of the game is not a bad thing imo. Just useless. I find myself ignoring them during the fight.
Love the rest of the game so far though.

That's where I am with it too.

I like that the kameos give me more fatality and brutality options, but other than that I think they're only going to be used by high-level competitive players for combo extensions in fighting game tournaments.

I've seen others make this complaint. I don't really understand what we're saying here. I never used load outs in MK11. Are we just talking about multiple saved cosmetic options?

Played through the first season of invasion content. Goddamn that was a miserable slog to get a few skins. Probably won’t waste my time with season 2.

And I don’t know how she managed to do it, but Megan fox managed to turn in a worse performance than Ronda Rousey. Did they force feed Megan a fistful of Vicodin before she went into the booth? She sounds half asleep with that delivery. At least Ronda tried.

I am really, really enjoying it. Some of the fights are tricky/annoying but I think this is a huge improvement over the Krypt. My one complaint is having to keep up with an inventory. This is a fighting game, Netherrealm. I don't want to keep up with inventory.

To be fair, Megan Fox isn't great in much.

I enjoyed invasion alright at first but by the third zone I was pretty over it.

I essentially forced myself to finish it.

It is a nice way to grind out levels for characters, so at least there’s that.

I get that. I've been doing like one zone every day or every other day so I guess that is helping me with the burnout aspect.

I just felt like the Krypt in MK 11 was soooo tedious. I never did open all of the chests. The jump scares were so very annoying.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

Like in MK11 where you could have 5 different skins with different gears equipped to choose from for each fight. In this one you can only have 1 skin and 1 gear saved at a time. So, if u fight and you decide maybe you want to use a different skin for the next fight, you have to actually go to customization and change it.
