The brutalities in this game are totally worth it. In most cases, they're much more creative than the fatalities.

Finally finished this today. I guess I'll go back and open up the nether stone gates and complete all of those fights too, but maybe I'll just do some towers for now.

That last level of Invasion was frustrating. Every enemy getting a shield is annoying.

Yeah wait for the edition with all 3-4 Kombat Packs that will likely eventually include Kabal, and get it all for $30 or less on a site like Green Man Gaming.

This has always been my strategy for these in the past, but good luck on that $30 tag.

The MK11 ultimate edition was released a year and a half after the original game, and it looks like it's just now going for $30 a couple weeks after the sequel released.

The problem with buying those ultimate editions second hand is some of the things you get are done through download codes that were likely redeemed by the original owner. I would definitely recommend buying those new if you want to be sure you're getting all of the content that comes with it.
