How did they not start full court PR on why this change is good. It is so frustrating.
I really don't think they knew what Sony was going to do.
ETA:
And TBH, I really think Sony may have changed some thing post MS reveal based on the public's reaction.

They are just planning ahead. They see the writing on the wall and are gearing up for the change in gaming. When the day comes(which it will) they will be a step ahead of the game. Take their hits now and profit in the future.
It's like oh hey tires might be banned. Sony says buy your tires now. Microsoft says we wont sell tires anymore but here buy this flying car.

I look and Windows 8 and laugh at this statement.

So my thread yesterday about MS is forcing the market to evolve into more of a Steam situation and maybe beyond is accurate.
It also sounds like the consumer would benefit more from pricing and other options but hey I CAN'T TRADE MY GAMES WITH MY FRIENDS! Nevermind the fact that games will be cheaper now and you and your friend can afford more of them so you won't have to trade.
Also, your friend wants to see the game and try it out? You can access it at his house on his system from the cloud with your gamertag.
Like I said the other day, a market shift and move forward is always hard to accept and go through in any industry and sometimes it's even harder to get started. If MS can fight through it and make it happen gaming as a whole will be better without the used game and physical copy model.
I also feel like people are underestimating where cloud gaming could take us.

Because windows 8 on a computer for work purposes is the same as a gaming device.

Problem is that it's not very good for the consumer. It may allow for nice developments in the future, but that isn't certain. Getting screwed in the present is a certainty.
ETA: This is why people are pissed. If there was objective benefit that is guaranteed to come in the future, then I don't think people would be upset. It's all speculation though now.

I can't wait for the Xbox Two. I bet I can control Gerard Butler

I don't think any studio is going to make console manufacturers keep their internet on or make it to where they can't play the offline portion of a game. To defend that point is futile. Yeah, people will be ok with it and they will buy the Xbox, but its hardly the same as DRM or online passes.

it isn't but I am saying that MS has had a history of doing some WTF things that don't pan out...their stance on next gen console restriction may or may not be one of those things.

Me and a couple of my friends are already talking about sharing some single player games by trading accounts. I love my achievements, so I may not do it but I like the concept.

Couldn't agree more

And I hope Sony as a company just makes it to PS5.

Is this HD DVD vs Blu Ray again?

i couldnt tell you the last time I put a movie into a DVD player or console. Online watch stuff streamed. Rent it as the worst on vudu or something like that

It is a risk no doubt. But it is a digital age. We will not know over night only time will tell.

So this interview is nothing new? Just saying they are doing it for the greater good of gaming now? Spin-job

I don't know that. But I do know that these consoles will push the future. Which one wins is what is going to determine what used game market is moving forward.

Completely agree, and that's why I think MS's big middle finger to the status quo is off-putting to some.

My PS3 is my main DVD player. You will use your xbox to watch BluRay now that it can. I promise you.
