finally beat the game 45 hours in at level 34 on regular difficulty. final battle was not hard at all i was let down honestly.
I also hate that i could basically beat the game without fully upgrading any gear like it wasn't a necessity.

I've just been fricking around trying not to finish the story but I'm around level 35 or 36 on the hardest difficulty setting without really trying. I should probably go ahead and finish the story so the final battle doesn't become even more of a joke than it probably already is.
I'm about ready to turn this game over to my 7 year old. He might find it to be a good challenge. For me, it's been just something to mindlessly wander through before I get into something more rigorous soon.
