I was born in 1988. If you’re around my age, as amazing as lord of the rings is, in terms of growing up factor they are very much equal depending on age (not whatsoever making a content argument). The game being a first time go at a AAA game is frankly not something I find possible. This game is so fricking god damn good. It’s a massive Ubisoft style open world 500 hour time sink, and yet it’s presentation and packaging and sherry fact that the open world check list is hidden away until damn near 60% at least of the vote story is over and why that point it doesn’t give a frick if you even do it or don’t give a shite. And I did every single market on a massive map. I could compose a novel on how impressive their game construction was here. They provided an intense amount of nostalgia for me as a guy whose mom read them these as a 11 year old. And yet, it was never more than background bullshite no one else would know about or care. The story is new and JK had no part but it’s better then a ton of her HP material. The gameplay is complex and a lot to breakdown but suffice to say I would not and still will not be pulled off this drug. My GF slept alone since 12 midnight it unlocked. I took adderall and just did my shite. The combat is basically Sekiro but with magic and 50% easier and I mean that in the best possible way. It’s probably not gonna be Goat because the year is stacked with more shite then ally strippers arse hole but I will never not have this memory it’s equally worthy and present as ps1 metal gear etc

I seriously doubt this.

Your mom read you books when you were 11?

I started last night and my wife had to come pry me off of it at 11pm. Game is super fun and looks amazing visually.
I started last night as well. I hate that I got the preorder, as I ended up not having the chance to play it early, but it is what it is.
Got selected into Slytherin and did the first Charms class. I'll dig into it tonight.
My wife doesn't game...her experience consists of Twisted Metal and Tekken on the PS1, Mario Party on the Switch, and Mortal Kombat/LIttle Big Planet/Rock Band 2 on the PS3 and 4. She's big into the Harry Potter universe and as I was telling her about the miniscule amount I accomplished last night she is wanting to get started with a character of her own.

Just woke up after 12 hours and have 100% the entire title since it’s midnight unlock. I know it’s fun. It’s highly likely I’ve seen and completed much much more and in different ways via save reloads than almost anyone on this board given it’s pre release access and just having launched. I have no issues with a critical conversation. VinegarStrokes is just a fricking poor loser who doesn’t know sh it about video games or anything else outside of baseball so far as I’ve seen his TD activity suggest. He has no interest in talking about the game, enjoys the game, probably even has the dexterity to play this game even on story mode (setting aside the fact you need 500$ minim more likely a lot higher to even have an appliance to jn it) and he’s so poor it’s almost not even a tangible idea he’d be able to play it so quickly. All he has is attempting to take away other people’s fun or their ideas about enjoyment in life so he doesn’t have to stare at his plastic star ceiling above his bed each night before drifting off hoping for the release and peace of death.

Your range and level of enjoyment of this particular title will sway and swing so dramatically I’ll give you a bullet list that will determine where you will between it’s tGost and it’s another very polished and worthy in another long line of Ubisoft style games
- how story and narrative is told to the player and constructed. Do not get me wrong this is the story (the mc) it’s and isiakae no doubt about it; it there is a whole tucking lot going on here and while it’s my no means ever FromsSoftian in its delivery you’ll be easily 65% done with the main story before the 1st trial happens and someone appearing enjoyment and understanding of a fascinating narrative will begin to take shape
- how much patience you have for things that are extremely enjoyable and down right best in show…..never being explained to you and the time it takes to single handily discover and learn every big and small mechanical feature behind the hood hete that’s so enjoyable and addictive once you reach the level needed for those dopamine hits to flow. It’s not Datk Sould or Sekiro it’s never even close but it’s not easy either at all if you play on hard.
- how much you’re expecting the Witcher 3 from how it was billed as being it. This game is not the Witcher 3. Going in expecting anything close to it will hurt the experience.
There a lot more. This game is so damn interesting to pick apart because of its design and influence. The game was developed targeting a release of and competing with its piers as a late era Ps4 life cycle game. Yes the Ubisoft checklist is here in this game but it’s held back for so long it’s almost breath taking in scope when you actually see the size of the world and it’s so far ahead creatively, presentationally, game implantation; ahead of anyone else going right now it frankly doesn’t even matter.

Ran into my first show-stopping glitch (PS5).
I didn't realize I was getting sucked elbow deep into the Alohomora stealth quest chain until I was already too far committed to be able to back out and do other quests before I finished it, so I used the "abandon quest" option on the 'you failed' screen so I could go finish up the little things I wanted to do before stopping for the night and do that one later.
It broke everything. I was permanently stuck needing to talk to Moon without being able to talk to Moon, it wouldn't let me fast travel or engage in any other quests until I 'abandoned' my current quest but there was no way to abandon it again because it wasn't anywhere I could access it in my quest log.
Apparently this has happened to other people too. I had to start walking back to previous saves to find a clean one and thankfully I had an autosave right before I went into the locked faculty tower that was clean enough, I just had to push through the quest and complete it to ensure I didn't have the same thing happen again. So beware of all that.

Do you recall how big the Day 1 patch was?
EDIT: Nvm, looks like a patch hasn't been released yet.

Hairy hit level 16 last night before I logged off. I stopped exploring long enough to get Expelliarmus then went back to exploring.
Found a goblin merchant who had been robbed. Tracked down the bandits and beat them all (by taking it slow) as well as some poachers. Also went for a nice swim in the lake for a side quest (which unlocks the ability to find random items in the lake). Also did the first Merlin Trial.
Won the Crossed Wands championship, solved a cave riddle, snuck into the Restricted section of the library and found the old, abandoned herbology area (underground).
That was just one night and I've barely explored any of the valley yet.
This game is so damned good.

Level 22, just got my broom and completed the enhancement mission testing it out on the first race course
I should really buckle down and do some story missions.

Downloading now. Should I go puff or gryffindor? I literally have not heard of 1 person going gryff yet so might do it just because of that
Posted on 2/10/23 at 1:53 pm to cfish140
Apparently, hufflepuff has an exclusive quest that lets you go to Azkaban and fight death eaters, or so i've seen streamers say.
Posted on 2/10/23 at 1:59 pm to GoCrazyAuburn
I'm a Hufflepuff. Have been to Azkaban but didn't fight Death Eaters. Not sure if that's it or not. Thought it was just part of a random side quest.
Posted on 2/10/23 at 2:09 pm to DFWAggie09
I'm Gryffindor and I think our exclusive quest was when I had to help Nearly Headless Nick barter our way into the good graces of the Headless Hunt.

No idea, I just saw it in a clip someone was talking about.
What talents are everyone going with? I really hate you can't re-spec those at some point. I have no problem making it expensive as frick to do, but not even having it available to do is really annoying.
I did all three of the increase spell wheel ones, swift, cast mastery level 1, then the ones that expelliarmus and stupify both curse people, as well as the one to be able to catch and toss enemy's weapons. All i've done so far. Going to work on a combat build that utilizes Descendo, expelliarmus, glacio, and diffindo combo, then whatever is left over feed into filling the ancient magic bar and curse mastery.

Man. I REALLY hope they do some DLC for this game. I want more of everything. More quests. More dark magic. More plants. More magical creatures. More spells.
The next game in the series could be GOTY worthy. Imagine they take everything that makes this game so good and then combine it with a more cinematic experience on the story like God of War? Not as far as everything being one shot like God War. Just the way they invested in the story, characters, acting, motion cap and directing. Imagine dueling on top of a dragon or something
