Hey just wanted to buy a headset that can work for the ps4. Would like it to cover both ears so I can hear the game (mute the TV). Also has to have a microphone. Any recs?

If it can be interchangeable with Xbone/ps4/PC that would be excellent.

I have the Astro A20 wireless. Xbox1 but compatible. Excellent headphones and the mic is crisp. Highly recommended.

I’ll tell you exactly what to do

Go order:

Phillips SHP9500S headphones - LINK
VMODA BoomPro Mic - seems like they’re out of stock on Amazon, check Newegg, Bestbuy, Sweetwater, etc

Should run you like $100 for both and that setup will far outclass anything in its price range. I’ve put over a dozen people on it and still get thanked. If you don’t believe me, look up the countless reviews and then buy with confidence

Carson put me on this a few weeks ago, and I love it. Been working out great.

Also, Vmoda boom pro was going to take a long time to get to me, so I ordered this model off amazon and it worked great. My friend said he couldn’t tel the difference in mic quality when I switched to the Vmoda when it showed up. So that one I linked is a good option if you can’t get Vmoda brand.

I think I'm going to go with that Philips and then buy that microphone. I guess it has to be the 3.5 mm jack for it to work with those philips headphones?

the Vmoda has two 3.5mm ends. One at the end of the cable by itself, and one right next to the microphone. slot the microphone end into the Phillips (left side) and slot the other end directly into the controller

I have the wireless SteelSeries Artis 7. Awesome headset, it might still be on sale at Best Buy.

Wireless SteelSeries Arctis 7

Great headset. The battery life is insane compared to my previous set and at a much lower price.

I just ordered this. Looks like Amazon has the microphone for $39. Weird though because the headphones will be here in 1-2 days but the mic can't get here until May 28th. Still it says the microphone is shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Replacing my Corsair Void Elite gaming headset with this setup. This Corsair gaming headset isn't even that old (2 months). I'm done with gaming headsets that try to do everything in one cheap setup.

Quick question about the Phillips SHP9500S. I know people recommend them for FPS games, but are they also good for Soulsborne games, Assassin's Creed-type games, and horror games? Since they're open-back, do they give that immersive experience?

I wouldn’t bother with a headset. None of them are worth the money. Garbage speakers and garbage mic packaged for profit.

Get you some headphones of your choice and a mod mic from antlion. (If you want the mic attached)

I use 600 ohm dt990 but those require a powerful amp.

Yes, they have an excellent soundstage and are very atmospheric and immersive

Are you on Xbox or PS4? Even though the Phillips need only 67 ohms or so and are very easy to drive, the PS4 controller struggles to push them and they don’t get as loud as I like. You’ll have that issue with any headset on PS4 fwiw. Make sure to get an amp if so

I play on both (but not PC). Any recs for an amp to pair with the headphones when using them w/ my PS4?
