I play on both (but not PC). Any recs for an amp to pair with the headphones when using them w/ my PS4?

If you're getting an amp, you might as well get a better set of cans (AD700 on the lower end of the budget, AKG K701 if you want the absolute best option for a headphones)

I was looking at AD700s and AD900s but couldn't really find them at any reputable places online. I'd still need an amp with those on a PS4, right?

I wonder if it's worth waiting until the Series X and PS5 come out to see which headphones are recommended for the new consoles. I have used Sennheiser HDR 175s for several years (originally got them for movies) and the reviews say they're horrible for gaming. So pretty much anything would be an improvement.

The controllers on the new consoles should have no issues pushing most headsets. Probably worth just putting up with quieter sound on PS4 for a few months instead of buying an amp

If you decide to go with an amp, check out the Sennheiser HD58Xs or the beyerdynamic cans that Mystery mentioned. I run the 58Xs with a Shure SM7B through a GoXLR Mini on my PC setup (Phillips setup is for when im on xbox or ps4). You would be fine with an Antlion modmic though, my shite is overkill.

You beat DotD yet?

True. It may make sense to stick with my RS175s for now and go big on headphones once I have the PS5 and Series X all set up. Have you ever tried the beyerdynamic DT 990 PROs? I see those mentioned a lot online as well.

Ugh. I'm in the third region on DotD. I was basically a throwing build through Samurai and Strong, but in Demon I've essentially ditched shuriken, kunais, and storm kunais, and loaded up on feathers. I usually run fire (both normal and hellfire) and water feathers, but thinking of dropping throwing weapons completely and adding lightning feathers.

How about you? What kind of build are you using in Demon?

That’s what I just mentioned I use. Dt 990
Pro/premium is just different builds. (aesthetics)
It’s the best headset for FPS/awareness gaming there is really.

There are 3 versions
80 ohm
250 ohm
600 ohm
The higher the more amp you will need.

I have a k5pro amp/dc that can push the 600 ohm.
But getting a 80ohm version is fine.

No, and I've owned them. The K701's are the absolute best.

Well many will disagree with you. As will I. But I won’t pretend I have tried all of them. Also not including 400- plus sets

Well I was being fair in price. I would assume the dt 1990 is better as well. I’m not as rich as you.
Figured 100-300 was the price range we were looking at.

The 990s are very comparable to the HD 58Xs, but with a slightly wider sound stage and different focus. I tell people if they prefer mids/highs, go with the 990s. If they prefer a more bass oriented soundscape that the Sennheisers are know for, get the 58Xs. They do different things well

I dunno. It’s a 450 headphone firsthand dealer. Didn’t know you can find them cheap.

This thread really encapsulates how difficult it is to find headphones. It seems like it's often a very personal choice, and it sucks not really being able to just walk into a store to test them all out.

But thank you all for providing such great info! I'm definitely going to take a look at all the ones mentioned here and the links provided by bluebarracuda!

Got PlayStation Gouda and have always loved them. Unrelated to the headsets themselves , for the last few months I have been getting a lot of feed back that I can’t hear but my group can about once during each session I play . Have to cut off then back on and it fixes it . Been reading g it could be cell phones , wires from receiver etc causing interference . Anybody else had that problem . Got two new sets of golds so it is not the headphones

Do you use them on console or PC?

Do you use an amp? If so, which one?
