I haven't tried it yet but will likely check it out this weekend.. haven't done any end game stuff yet. Sounds frustrating lol.

Downloaded it last night haven't gotten far. My son made a good observation just minutes in though. They remind him of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Noctis = Leonardo
Ignis = Donatello
Gladiolus = Raphael
Prompto = Michaelangelo
Pretty spot on imo.

Got to the "city" last night - went and got the next King's weapon and noct started having his visions. Bought the XI Soundtrack and went around listening to it for about 30 minutes last night.
Also got my chocobo to level 6 last night and fished up the rare fish (for the quest) in the 2nd area for fun...
This game is an ADD person's worst nightmare

Finished the game last night.
An okay game when judged on its own merits. Judged within the confines of the series, it's bottom tier.
Final Fantasy isn't meant for open world. Too many mmo-styled fetch quests and not enough plot development. I didn't mind nocts character development in the final chapter but too little, too late.
I'll have a little fun taking on high level enemies and wrapping up a few side quests but I'll never replay this game.

I personally think this is a bit of an overstatement. I'd be perfectly fine with an open world if they spent as much time on plot as they did in the old games and put in Witcher level sidequests. In fact, I think it could be really good.
The feeling that I get from this game is that they blew their load on getting the open world and combat systems right, which they largely did, but ran out of time for actually making a good plot.
On the plus side, I think they stick with open world and are able to utilize the massive tech capital they've now built with their current system and 16 has some serious potential to be a classic.

Do you mean FFXV specifically, or FF series in general? Because the best of FFs were very wide open.

I don't think my criticism is overblown, but bring on the downvotes.
I don't think this game is a steaming pile of shite, but I do take issue with people calling it a return to form, which it isn't.
By the way, I need a few griffon feathers. Mind going and killing me a couple dozen and praying to rnJesus for a feather drop since you guys enjoy fetching shite so much?

I'm not going to downvote because I certainly agree that you're entitled to your opinion, but I am not going to get off your lawn either.
The game was the best I've played in 2016.

Return to form as in the majority are having fun with it again. Not so much the style of play.
Those who have followed the game for a while knew this is what we were getting. Especially those who played the first demo and it left us wanting more and we got it.
While I agree the quest could have been better. Even reduced for better quality. I still have put 40 hours into the game and haven't even set sail...sooooo I can't bitch too much.
I was dissapointed by the lack of story in the first half....then I took a step back and realized....it isn't such a bad thing because im not distracted by it and can kind of just have fun exploring. Maybe that is how they wanted it to be.
Here....take this final fantasy that is so open to start and we are just going to throw you in and let you determine how you wish to proceed. If you want the story( which most have loved ) then just push on through the chapters.
You know one of my biggest gripes with the franchise was having to grind small little areas that got stale before I ran into the next loading area for fear that I may miss something or might not be high enough level for the next boss that you are forced to fight because you walked the next loading screen.
XV allows me to play a Final Fantasy how I've always wanted to play one. Freely.

This game has me stuck hunting and side questing. I'm level 61 in chapter 8. Just running around knocking out dungeons and getting arms.
Posted on 12/22/16 at 3:07 pm to Scrowe
For as much smack the game gets for side quests, I think the king's arms dungeons are excellent as well as the Deadeye quest.
Posted on 12/22/16 at 4:34 pm to oauron
Yeah I love the dungeons so far. Feels as if they are alive and challenging.
Last night I was staring at the samurai guy on the bridge. I stared at him for a second thinking I'm not going to fight him here or I'll fall. He disappears. Oh that was easy. Get to the middle of the bridge and he reappears to butt frick my arse right off of it and then butt fricked my arse when I finally got the solid chance to fight him.
Stumbled across another one. How the frick do I get in here. Waits forever till night...oh there we go. Gets one room in. Butt fricked by a million bombs that I couldn't kill in time before they exploded. My butt hurts.

I just did the Castlemark Tower and it took me like 2 hours. (I got lost). I was level 65 going in and it still was pretty difficult for me.
Posted on 12/22/16 at 7:03 pm to Blitzed
Yeah.. level 65.. just made my first attempt at Costlemark Tower.. got destroyed in that bomb room.. bout to try again. Methinks I'll just run through it this time.

Hour 79, level 55 and I am stockpiling experience to hopefully jump 15 levels to walk through the end.
Posted on 12/22/16 at 9:14 pm to freeagent
Beat costlmark in the 40s...pro tip go to golden quay and buy the food that nullifies all elemental damage and breeze past those annoying thunder bombs. Before I figured that out they rekt me and I spent all my curatives on the first try
After that food, they don't even do damage while the effect is active

I got some Lightining Crests in Altissa and it made it way easier. No threat of death throughout.
