I just got godhand for rikku and Caladbolg for Tidus. I had Tidus' crest. So my ultimate weapon not only gives me zero AP, it also gives me double over drive. But I found Ascalon and it gives double AP. so I'm grinding in Zanarkand

you dodge 100 lightning bolts yet? I've had some rage moments getting lulus ultimate weapon. Got up to 92 dodges and then got hit by 1

Seriously, that part makes me want to chuck a controller straight through my tv. And the worst part is that it takes like two hours

FFXII was still very much turn based. Just because you could freely roam doesn't change the fact it was still turn based.

Main character was going to Basch, not Ashe, but they wanted a young protagonist because that is what has sold well in Japan and in the West.

Which version did you play though? The "true" FF4 is a lot harder than the one that was released on SNES as FF2.

I've played both through the magic of emulators.
I can definitely dig the additional features added into the hard version.
all I can remember offhand is that there are additional character abilities. like that shockwave thing that Cecil can do when he is still a dark knight.

I loved the battle system in 10, but I just didn't like the game overall. Much prefer my FF games to not have voice acting either.
