X-2

9 was OK from what I played, but I had a memory card error after 10 hours of play and never touched it again. Played about an hour of X-2 and thought it was horrible.

I'm going to play 6 one of these days. Not sure if I'll ever touch 13 after hearing quite a few bad things, especially that it's even more linear than X.

That is all.

Sorry man but ff3 and ff8 are the highlights of the series.

Then ffx.

Never played 7. Peoples obsession with cloud turned me off of it.

Yeah Cloud and Sephiroth are epicenters of nerd love.

I'm assuming by 3 you mean 6? Unless you're hardcore into old school games.

8 is pretty enjoyable. GF system is cool, junctioning is kind of wonky but a nice changeup.

Never played a final fantasy game, but that order makes sense for some reason.

Sadly, like said above, I really think 7 changed the series for the worst. 7-10 was square grappling with what it wanted to do internally (every Final Fantasy before 7) and what they wanted to do commercially (7). They hit some good notes in 9, 8 had one of the best overall stories, and 10 was just a better version of 7.

7 was just impersonal and disjointed.

See I loved 7, I liked the story and liked the implementation and liked most of the characters (screw Cait Sith).

In 10, I didn't like most of the characters, and it pretty much felt like I was watching a movie and fighting easy battles. The fact that there was virtually no free exploration and you could see every single upcoming battle turn took some of the fun out if it for me. Also the story was just a little weird.

Dude when I played ff2 ad ff3 for the first time there was no internet to tell me Japan didn't release some over here.

So ff2 and ff3. I don't care what the japs number system says.

If you like turn based combat RPGs you are missing out. They've kind of dropped off the last few years though. It would be awesome if they released a new one that brought the fire back to the series.

I have always been called a freak for putting 10 and 8 above 7. It's simply design, but I really disliked the art design. The music and stories in FF8 and FF10 were top notch. I would still boot up and play either if I still had a PS or PS2.
