I would've thought most games by now would be 4k at 60fps, but I don't know a whole lot about gaming technology.

I wish companies were more transparent about what changing the graphics modes actually does. At some point maybe we'll just be given settings like in a PC game, but I wouldn't even be opposed to that

For some games, it's just a resolution boost. In others, it affects all sorts of things.

Another issue I have at least with the performance mode in FFXVI in particular is that it runs at 1440p. Lets drop that resolution down to 1080p and see if it can keep a locked 60. Generally speaking, 1080p scales really well to 4K, so I'm not sure why anything trying to optimize framerate needs to run at 1440p.

It was janky as hell on performance mode for me. Maybe I should have played on graphics mode.

Really not a huge fan of all the numbers in combat. It makes the combat look ridiculous IMO. I hope you can turn that off.

I guess the game will have non stop mini-loading zones with all these "heavy doors" and ledges to hop and crawl through. But at least it is really fast.

The 1st part has been shown since the opening trailer. Not much spoiling unless you are in the complete dark on the game.

Ran fine for me. Nothing in the story surprised me at all. Music and voice acting was great. Combat was too easy idk what else to really say about just the demo id probably give it 7/10 and predict the final meta score somewhere landing around 84.

Yeah I actually didn’t mind them since they’re so quick

It was very easy combat. More of a spectacle than a challenge. Especially part 2 when you had more abilities.

I really don't get this complaint over the last couple of years. Especially with FF where damage number has pretty much always been a part of it, turn based or action style.

not going to lie TD, i was expecting you to come in here with a review that put your hogwarts legacy review to shame. at least nobody can say you're biased towards your favorite series

It's just my opinion. I don't like it.
It takes up too much of the screen in an action game that has a lot going on. It's bad to look at. Something games like souls, witcher or jedi do not do.

I don't understand why FF being traditionally turned based has anything to do with it. Nothing about this game is turned based. If it was turned based I would have no problem with numbers showing per attack.

It’s fine and necessary in turn based where it’s slower and more methodical and there may not be a health bar present.

When you’re stringing together crazy combos, it just looks ridiculous and is too busy. And I don’t need the numbers when I’m getting instant feedback from how much of the enemy health bar is disappearing

I mean, I could take it or leave it, doesn't bother me or take me out of the game.

Really liked this demo. XVI wasn't on my radar with everything coming out this year that I know I will HAVE to buy (Starfield, Mirage), but I just might. It's still a long way from September.

Wonder what the feedback would have been if they didn’t include the numbers. I prefer them. I like to see the numbers go up.

Anyways. One thing about Creative Business unit 3 is that they listen to their fans.

Maybe you’ll get an option to turn it off…if it’s something more than a few people are complaining about.

That is all I am asking for. Diablo 4 even gives you the option. Lots of games do. I am pretty sure you can in FF14, and numbers mean more there.

Maybe, maybe not. Playing the lies of P demo right now and it's been kicking my arse. I did like the FF16 demo story. It left me wanting more. I didnt really care for the combat, but I imagine it will get better as the game progresses. I just played the story part of the demo. I didnt mess with the other part of the demo.

I’ve reached the point in recent years where I simply just don’t trust SE to make anything NEW that’s good. I liked 7 remake but that’s just them adapting some of their old good work. Honestly I don’t think they’ve made anything great in this franchise since 2001…so I have low expectations for 16, especially considering the teams that made it (they have literally nothing good in their development tree except FF tactics).

That said...I really enjoyed this demo. I’m not ready yet to say the game will actually be good, but it was definitely a lot better than I was expecting

While I don't disagree with most of what you are saying. The guy running the show for 16 is deserving of respect and I expect he will make a good game. He is the best they have left.

I have been saying that for a long time too. The old Squaresoft devs are gone. It's not that final fantasy has changed. It is more that the Devs who made them are all gone. Square is just a name and not the same talent anymore.
