I played so much of the original with my older brother that it probabaly takes first place just from nostalgia.

I actually really like ODST since it was kinda away from the whole super solider stuff. Though 2 and 3 are by far my favorites, reach wasn't that bad ether

I very much enjoyed Halo 4's story. 5 was terrible. But just recently playing through the first 3 my wife really enjoyed Halo 3 the most so that's my pick as well.

3 was the GOAT. 5 isn't that bad. It's extremely balanced gun wise. Just the campaign was terrible. But better than spartan abilities of Reach and 4. I would take out spartan charge but it's a pretty solid multiplayer game.

Halo 1
It's like the "A New Hope" of the Star Wars franchise. It can be picked up by someone with no prior knowledge of the Halo franchise and played from begging to end without ever feeling the need to pick up any of the new games. Halo 2 and 3 are essentially two halves of what should have been one game, and 4 and 5 are an incomprehensible mess from a storytelling perspective without having spent a lot of time reading up on the lore.

Halo will always have that special spot and I miss those lan parties, but I probably had the most fun with 3. I know 2 is widely considered the best, but I never got hardcore into the BXR whatever and the glitching, so those people annoyed the shite out of me.
And I don't care how people feel, I had a lot of fun playing 4.

Halo 2 had the most pure and enjoyable MP experience. I can't even fathom how many hours of gameplay I put into that game. Just insane.
Reach far and away has the best story. It's beautiful and tragic and just fricking awesome. The MP was also a ton of fun and I rate it just behind Halo 2.
I'm playing the series now out of some twisted dedication to nostalgia, but the falloff has been so bad. I don't even play the MP anymore.

I'm terrified to know how much time I wasted on there.
I recently borrowed the MCC from a friend to see if I was still any good.
A) I was
B) In roughly 3.5 months I played over 200 hours of H2. Nevermind the total from the rest of the MCC.
I'm married, have a kid, and go to school fulltime. When I was in highschool and college 10-12 years ago there is no telling how much I played.
